There definitely is something odd about Star and her weird body. I mean, she's 3 years old, but her body is that of a full-grown adult nearly. And it seems weirdly strong (she DID lift a tree many sizes larger than her afterall).
Luckily we'll get to see the beginnings of why this is such in Chapter 2

Well the car only hit her tail so that wouldn't kill her. But the eaten alive part SHOULD have...but re-read the prologue to the comic and you'll see that something weird happened when she was eaten.
