Description Bane as he appears in my Batman universe.

Not a man of words, but a man of action, little is known about Bane, and he prefers it that way. What has been confirmed is that he was born, or at least grew up, in a prison on a small island nation. Rather than be broken by his upbringing, it instead molded him into the most formidable warrior possible. He grew to become a tactical mastermind, an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, and he developed a seemingly inhuman tolerance for pain.

He orchestrated an overtaking of his prison, turning it into his headquarters from which he trained mercenaries. Together, they can be hired to help topple corrupt governments, with Bane becoming a counter-culture icon throughout South America. He was later hired by an unknown benefactor to come to Gotham to liberate it from this mysterious benefactor believed to be weakening the people of Gotham by giving them false hope: The Batman.

Bane became fascinated by The Dark Knight as he studied his methodology and ideology. He altered his armor with a broken bat symbol, perhaps too on the nose, but subtlety has no place in Bane's world. The broken bat would be an immediate warning to anyone who bore witness to it. Bane was hellbent on breaking The Bat.

His siege on Gotham lasted several weeks, with him slowly wearing Batman down before battling him, leaving Batman near death. Batman managed to escape, later returning, seemingly healed from their encounter, and defeating Bane.

Bane's gauntlets and belt all contain a method of injecting himself with the Venom serum, increasing his strength, speed, durability, and ferocity. He has to monitor how much Venom he intakes, lest he risk damaging his body beyond repair. By turning the dials further, he can enter an even more powered-up state for a brief period.

The mask he wears contains specialized goggles that give him his own "detective mode." He wears a sophisticated rebreather that increases the amount of time he can be underwater, as well as allowing him to breathe even in poison gas. It's most important function supplies him with anesthesia to sustain himself despite the pain of combat, the pain of decades of injuries, and the pain from using Venom.

Despite his brutality, Bane is rather soft-spoken, preferring not to undermine his actions with petty threats. He's well-read, intelligent, and knowledgeable on various subjects. He has weapons training, but prefers to use his fists. His men seem to worship him, preferring to take their own lives to evade interrogation.

Behind The Scenes: I've always disliked the notion of Bane being beaten by popping out his tubes. For a mastermind, his exposed tubes seem like such a huge, obvious drawback, so my take on him has him conceal those weakpoints. Any one of his devices allow him to continue using Venom. I've gotten push-back before on him wearing his broken bat symbol, but I think it helps him introduce himself in-universe. You take one look at him, you know what he's about. Hope you guys enjoyed this!
