Description
Posting this now that the convention is over. It was a blast and I will post about it soonish. ^^So, this was the image I did for the RBW 2007 conbook cover. It was a wrap-around style piece, so the giant alien-cat's face and the the two FiB were on the front, while the lil green critters were on the back.
The theme for this year's con was FiB (furs in black) A play off of men in black ^^
And even the lil aliens on the feline's tail are based on the 'coffee aliens'. ^^
And hey there is a non-MIB reference in there, see if you can spot exactly what it is

You lucky girl! It'll pass 100 years before anyone here around me even knows who is Nekobasu, not to mention plushies - Great job anyway ^__^

Hehe, when I first saw it, and saw that you had made some sort of ref in the pic, I thought CatBus from My Neighbor Totoro. Because of 1. huge cat and 2. powerlines in the bg. Nice job!

That cat looks amazing Lol, I thought the little critters looked like the coffee aliens once I saw the mice/rats dressed in black XD
Really nice work, I do love your colouring method

Do you know if the coffee aliens actually have a name. Ive not seen MiB2 but ive also heard them refered to as worms XD

They have a full name, but I don't remember it ^_^ Usually they're called worms though

the piercings on the cat's lowerback/rump's fin-like things are my bet for what isn't MiB-referenced ^^ hopefully no one else has commented about that, though anyway, nice work as usual, even when i'm not seeing it in a book, i can imagine exactly where does what part of the book start. i kind of imagine the middle thing part that's usually the only visible part of a book on a shelf -don't know that part's name in english- being between the front leg's elbow thing and the hind leg's knee ^^

Hint, the reference is on the right side of the image and has to do with an old computer game ^_^
And you mean, the spine of the book? ^_^

Well thanks :3 he was both fun to render and well a bit challenging (I need more practice on felines and non morphic creatures alike!)

That friend, is because he is :3 Coz Im a doom geek i really wanted to kreep some lil reference in there to Doom. Of course, that istnt actually the BFG from Doom or Doom 2 its actually the BFG from Quake 2 as I felt it looked best for the image and reference was easier to find ^^

Davin2204 In reply to ultravioletbat [2007-12-04 16:25:20 +0000 UTC]
Nice ^_^
I thought it looked familiar...I wasn't exactly sure which version of the BFG it was, though (Never used it much in Quake II...Used to much ammo XD).

Well i couldnt give an exact figure. But considering that I would actually have sleep and time to eat and small breaks to relax.
Around 4 weeks.

Haha! I very much like the style and concept here. They all look very neat! Yay for mutant cats and little rat (mice?) agents/vets! I also like that they're out in a space where few...animals...venture. Anatomy on the cat is good, too.

Yeah, I fussed over that cat a lot, Im not very good at felines, it seems so there was a lot of reworking that kept happening, glad it came out ok in the end though! ^^
