I could see this piece as stained glass! What can you do to make more contrast between the hills and the sky?

I had not thought of stained glass, but it would look pretty cool in that medium.
As far as contrast between the mountains and the sky, really the only option, as I see it, would be to add more texture to the mountains.
If I do anything to the sky, the tree branches would get lost in the details.
I was trying to find the right balance of dark and light and it's much easier to add additional texture than it is to remove it once I've gone too far.
Of course with stained glass contrast can be gained with color or glass texture.
