Description Please note that this is not a Bullywug. They hate being mistaken for Bullywugs. Plavraw actually have a very advanced civilized culture... Although if you make a social misstep you may still end up being sacrificed to the great and mighty Praww

Seriously though, I'm pretty proud of this guy. He took about 6-8 hours in photoshop. I tried to use a mix of southeast Asian and Aztec design elements in his costume. I think this will be a pretty nice portfolio piece.

...oh and please fullview, he has a good bit of detail. Thanks

[Edit]: Fixed the perspective on his staff. It was bugging me

Oh look, a bullywug shaman

I love the concept of this creature, especially in combination with the background information you provided for it.
Very nice work on the anatomy, you found the perfect balance between the animal and humanoid form, making it seem neither unbalanced nor too human.
Like always the ornaments, chains etc. are perfectly done with great sharpness and attention to detail. This stands in contrast to some parts of the body that seem a bit blurry, especially the left eye (from viewerΒ΄s pov).

Yay! Ankaraven! Where have you been?

Thanks very much! I'll look at his left eye, I hadn't noticed any blurryness, but I'll look.

*looks a bit shocked at being tackled but starts to grin soon after*
I hit a streak of seriously bad luck with my computer...of my five hard-drives three were malfunctioning and had to be sent away for repair one by one and the forth decided it had led a long and happy life and died... so my time at the computer was seriously limited for a while.

I took another look at that eye...it isnΒ΄t so much blurry as that the pupil isnΒ΄t as dark as the other one...that made it look blurry at first...I think...

Beautiful, but are they evil? Humanoid frogs in fantasy worlds always seem to be evil for some reason, maybe rebelling against Disney or something

First, thank you very much .

To answer your question, well, I don't think of most of my monsters as "evil" per-se. They have their own societies, their own definitions of right and wrong. Their own taboos and so on. The Plavraw can have many positive and civil interactions with humans and elves and goblin etc. But if an individual breaks one of their taboos. It's very likely that he will end up, as I said, getting sacrificed the next dawn to their god, the great and mighty Praww. Does that make sense?

That's a cool way to put it, I guess you're not a fan of the alignment wheel of my Dungeons & Dragons (I say mine because I hate the simplified 4th edition which butchered everything a loved about 3.5 edition) . I never understood why they always made frog people , from Bullywugs to Froglocks from Everquest evil, like they wanted to have variety of evil races to fight when they were getting sick of Orcs . I never thought frogs could be evil, jerks? Maybe this one: [link] !

Thanks I suppose that alignments are a sort of handy shorthand (you're talking to someone who first played D&D back when it came in a red box ) and of course things like demons and whatnot are pretty much just evil

I just feel like too often now, monsters are simply cannon fodder for the good guys to chew through... "the Diablo effect" you might call it hehe. I like to imagine that even evil beings have to think and interact in some kind of social way with other evil beings at least. I think of Tolkien's trolls in The Hobbit as sort of a gold standard for the.

And hey! If somebody grabbed me, picked me up and stuck a camera an inch from my face I'd growl my ass off too!
