These creatures are demon horses that feast upon dreams and they're featured in the comic I'm working on with my girl. So, you'll see them a lot actually~ ovo
Nightmares have a lore to them already so this is my interpretation of them. If you guys are interested in them I'll release info out and you can make your own in regards to the info~ ovo or if you want to wait for a design by me that's cool too xDD

out of curiosity did he lose the white bits in his hair as he matured? o v o
hehe, excuse my horse nerd-ness, but I know that some breeds of horses I believe Lustinos and some Arabains start out white when they are young, but gradually turn gray to dapple when older! that would be kind of interesting if he followed the same concept!
