Description
She walked up to them. Up close Ciel looked much shorter. But still, he looked very proud, almost like a lion she thought, giggling a little.Ciel heard her laughter and must have though I had insulted him. For he looked up at me, and said, with a hint of frustration, "why are you laughing?"
Automatically she stopped n looked at him seriously. She replied evenly, "just an inside joke. I did not mean to offend you."
They stared at each other for a while till the butler, Sebastion, intervened.
"I'm sorry about my Young Master. He can be a little temperamental," he grinned. But to her it seemed more like a taunt, as if daring her to respond.
"It's fine," she replied. Then introduced herself. "My name is Kyoku," and made a small bow of respect, but not for the person. No. The bow was more for his rank as a Young Lord.
Ciel bowed back in return and Sebastion in succession. Then Ciel exchanged polite converse with Lau while she and Sebastion watched in the background. Ciel didn't seem to regard Lau as a friend but he didn't seem to think of him as an enemy either. Then she noticed in the corner of her eye what seemed to be a horn sticking out from underneath the table across from her. Although it was not a horn, it was Ran-Mao hiding underneath the table with her bun sticking out. She then heard Sebastion sigh and looked up at him.
"Does something trouble you sir?" she asked politely, not able to shake off this strange feeling of unease.
"No, thank you. I'm just a little worn is all. At my Young Master's mansion its very hard to keep up with all the chores. I end up collapsing in bed, sore every night."
"Don't you have other staff?" she questioned curiously. Genuinely worried for the young butler.
"We do but they are completely worthless. They are clumsy, forgetful, explosive, conceited, rude, bothersome, troubling. I can continue if you want."
"No need. Why don't you just fire them and hire new, more competent staff?"
"The Young Master won't allow it," he sighed. Kyoku wanted to help him, but she was unsure how to do that. Then she had an idea.
"Then how about you hire me."
