Description Illustration of Weber's enchanting song (he was the composer. The lyrics were actually written by Charles Hart, Richard Stilgoe and Mike Batt)

This one took months to draw - I researched the angles and the poses to death (mostly because it was so fun to do!) And still dream that, one of these days, I'll find the time to polish it and make it professional. I am waiting for my art techniques to improve a little more, so that said polish will be fast and fresh.

cover: Two sides of the Phantom: the romanticism symbolized by his roses, and his murderous nature which leads him to hang his enemies.
through the mirror?: This idea came from the movie. The Phantom calls Christine to pass through a mirror, leading her to his lair. Initially I focused on drawing a realistic mirror, but atmospheric depth had a much better dramatic effect. The decorative frame and flowers from her dressing room still remain.
the mask: Where Christine takes off the Phantom's mask. For some seconds, he shows true weakness. For some seconds, she is the threatening one. This is what I aimed to portray.
masquerade: Where Phantom appears and demands Christine returns. He sure knows how to crash a party!
the graveyard: Where she visits her father's grave, while Phantom watches. I tortured myself a lot with this one, as I considered drawing a cool swords-fight instead. But creepy stalkers in snowy graveyards are a lot less mainstream!
the hanged man: As the drama comes closer to an end, Erik attempts to have Raoul hanged, while he and Christine watch from afar. Simplicity and darkness aim to focus on the feeling.
the kiss: Hanging moment before the kiss, to be precise. Christine offers herself in exchange for Raoul's life. I wanted the Phantom standing a bit higher than Christine, but her bright form leading him to the corner. Initially I aimed for a stronger dynamic, but my romantic side won Again, sole focus on the forms.
the dream: Here I imagined the Phantom remembering his boat trip with Christine. I initially wanted to have Erik in despair, looking up at the scene, to make it more clear, but the balance never satisfied me. In the end, I abandoned all ties with reality and settled for a dream-like, hovering scene with a boat on the clouds, leaving the rest open for interpretation. It could as well be the two of them together in heaven (for the ones who ship it!)
