Done for the "beginnings" prompt. So apparently Jack worked for the East India Trading Company before they had a big fall-out. I think I like the fanon version of what they disagreed about, but we may never know the truth. Anyway, so it's Jack before all the :gestures wildly:Jack Sparrow (c) Disney

Very well done pic. Not only did you capture Jack's likeness but also the clothing and hair all fit the time period very well. 
As for the backstory- according to "The Secrets of the East India Trading Co." by Disney Press, Jack was ousted from the EITC for not transporting and releasing slaves. Of course, the book is fairly new so maybe Disney liked the fan version and decided to make it canon.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't believe that book was out when I did this pic. I tend to side with the writers that it's best to not know the "truth" of Jack's past. Everything's probably a little true and yet none of it is.

I agree. Half the fun is not knowing. I always figured that with Jack's keeness for storytelling half the stories about him were started by him. That book came out last year and conflicts a bit with Robb Kidd's Young Jack Sparrow books as well as other Disney Press POTC books that mention Jack's past.

This is awesome! If the backstory with EITC is the true, this is exactly what he would have looked like! I'm glad someone could imagine, and draw, such a canon verison of him. Should be the official!

Jack did work for the EITC under Beckett sometime after his teenage years. Apparently, Beckett had ordered him to transport slaves; Jack refused and set the slaves free; he was thus branded a pirate, incarcerated, and his ship the Wicked Wench (later renamed the Black Pearl after Davy Jones raised it from the sea floor as part of the bargain Jack had made with him) was burned.
.....But what would I know? XDD
I think he looks cute this way; I love the way he dresses when he's a pirate, but this is adorable.

Nah, the actual one is that Beckett or the PWP had him do something he didn't agree with. Fandom decided it was slaves, partially to help explain all the people in Tia Dalma's swamp that were mourning when the kraken got him.

Right. And that was only one version of Jack's backstory. The writers are more than happy for there to be a few possibilities out there. Keeps the mystique or something.

Others have said they prefer pirate Jack, but you know I've always imagined that Jack in his younger years was a "law abiding citizen" until he found so many ways to outwit he became an outlaw.
