Design update on Henjiru the Tanuki.

For the most part, I wanted him to look more like an actual tanuki instead of a raccoon. So, no stripes on his tail, and more face-fluff. Also, his belly has a noticeable pudge with an X-shaped navel in the center. Think of the X shape as a reference to tanuki statues with that kind of navel etched in.

Henjiru is still an aspiring fighter in the Dairantou rankings of Mamono, but he's also dedicated to his family's onsen specials, including incense-making and massages. As Tanupapa, a Dairantou veteran, always says, it's important to have a broad range of strong to gentle.

Henjiru's key elemental influence is Wind. Likely due to his affinity with the onsen, he can manifest steam through this influence. With this steam, he can create semi-solid constructs - like extra arms, which helps his wrestling/kickboxing style. This steam can also obscure or soften unfriendly mental attacks, making it useful against telepaths.

And of course, being a Tanuki, he practices shapeshifting arts as well. So far he's mastered three forms - Chopper, Gunbai, and Kettle. The Chopper form lets him fly around with ease. His hands may be stubby, but they're still strong enough to grip onto and carry things. The Gunbai form is odd, but Henjiru can best launch his wind-based attacks with this, and for slashing with its edge. He moves around in this form by inching or hopping on his tail. The Kettle form is a more defensive form - sturdy as iron, and blasts steam from his top at high pressure. Not good for jumping, though.

He's working on a human transformation as well. It's...not going as planned.

Henjiru is still young for his teen years, and so is rather cheeky and foolhardy. It would be a while before he starts thinking tactically in combat. Also, like most Yokai, he tries to shy away from human sight. Still, he's an idealistic youth who wants to finally bring humans and Yokai back together in the daylight - this is how he befriended half-Yokai like Zenmei, Typhoon, and Michiya. Of course, being the fluffy pudgy Tanuki he is, some just can't resist petting his fur or rubbing his belly - both of which he gets irritated over.
