Description
This is my take on Il. Piantissimo from the Nintendo GameCube game titled "Super Mario Sunshine". I have been planning to make a seven-part chronicle fanfic featuring the Mario characters, such as "Mimi... Terror of Gloam Valley", my second character I submitted to DeviantArt. Now my fan-canon will feature "Piantissimo The Masked Runner."

A Brief Summary of Piantissimo's Post-Super Mario Sunshine Story

Here's what happened to Piantissimo after the events of SMS. Piantissimo takes the paint brush, uses it to get pay back at Hotel Delfino's Casino, gets kicked off of Isle Delfino. He teams up with Dopliss the Duplighost and Roy Koopa, thus becomes a villain. Piantissimo ends up fighting Luigi, Piantissimo realized the wrongs of his evil deeds and asks Mario to help him take down Dopliss and Roy. Mario grudgingly agrees to work with Piantissimo and they both teamed up to defeat Roy Koopa and Doopliss. Piantissimo did not cause anyone to have a game over/(die) in Toad Town, so he only got 4 years in the Mushroom Kingdom jail. Roy got about 42 years in jail, but he escapes jail.

Eventually, after Piantissimo served his time, Piantissimo got to know Mario, Luigi and company, he became one of Mario's best frienemy-allies, (similar to how Goku & Vegeta are allies in DBZ), Piantissimo was a better frienemy to Mario than DK or Wario ever were. Piantissimo went to a gear-works school for 3 years and became Professor E. Gadd's Technician Assistant.

(This is a very long read, so make sure to take breaks.)

During Part 1 of the 7-Part Mario Fanfic, The 7 Star-Spirits were observing Piantissimo from Star Haven. They can sense that Piantissimo has worthiness to be a Chosen Hero from sensing the empathy he has for others and the strong sense of justice and duty he has to protect others. But they wanted to see if what heroism he was capable of before they chose him.

1. Piantissimo Get's 9th Place in The Mario Kart Grand Prix and Chills Out Later

Piantissimo at first was in a Mario Kart Grand Prix in the Mushroom Kingdom, where he raced against Mario, Peach, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong, (Dribble, Mona from Warioware), (Lina, Papa of the Doki Family), Waluigi, Mimi and Kalypso the Crocodile.

During the Grand Prix, Piantissimo continued to become good acquaintances with Dribble in between and during races, both having a positive and heated competitive spirit with one another. On the other hand, Piantissimo was frightened and had a hard time with Mimi flirting with him and scaring him on purpose during the Grand Prix. (Piantissimo fears Mimi, due to his fear of spiders and seeing her transform into a spider monster from a video on the internet.)

Dribble felt bad for Piantissimo and gets mad at Mimi's arrogant and cruel behavior. Dribble angrily tells Mimi "LISTEN HERE MISSY!! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! LEAVE PIANTISSIMO ALONE!!" Mimi in a condescending manner tells Dribble "Sorry, I don't listen to smelly peasants like you. Tee hee! Il. Pianto is such a cutie-pie and I can do what I want with him." Mimi chuckles evilly while she cracks her neck in an uncanny manner and makes this frightening, monstrous face at him, Dribble is disturbed by her and quickly walks away.

Dixie Kong won the Grand Prix, Piantissimo only got 9th place. He left the Mushroom Kingdom and back to the Metro Kingdom via warp-pipe to E'Gadd's Laboratories (his work place). Piantissimo released his frustrations on a punching bag back at the Laboratories' exercise room. After Piantissimo finished tasks that Professor E.Gadd assigned him, he went back to the Mushroom Kingdom to relaxed and lounged at one of the Mushroom Kingdom's west coast beaches. He wore stylish purple shades with drinking coconut water.

2. One Problem After Another in the Mushroom Kingdom, Piantissimo can not go on Hero's Duty

Unfortunately, news got out that Princess Toadstool/Peach was kidnapped by Larry and Roy Koopa. Mario, along with Prince Peasley, Yoshi, Toad, Goombella, Daisy, Lina, Papa and King Totomesu together went on a journey to head to the Koopa Kingdom to save Peach. Luigi stayed behind to keep an eye out for threats that could happen at the Kingdom, Piantissimo wanted to be on duty with Luigi. Piantissimo called E.Gadd to ask if he could be on hero's duty with Luigi, but E.Gadd had several tasks for Piantissimo to do. Piantissimo grudgingly jumps into a warp-pipe to return to the Metro Kingdom back to his job.

News got out that Luigi and a dozen Toad folk were taken by The Goombas from the small hermit territory called the "Goomb Forest Province" ruled by King Goomboss. Piantissimo wanted to save Luigi and the Toads, but E.Gadd told him that he could not due to the tasks. If Piantissimo ignored E.Gadd's orders and did heroes duty, E.Gadd would demote Piantissimo to janitor and greatly reduce his pay, due to Piantissimo's late-submitted projects. E.Gadd assured Piantissimo not to worry, for E.Gadd sent "Robo-Mario" to deal with the Goombas.

Unfortunately, the Robo-Mario went haywire and caused more destruction to the Toads' property than the Goombas. Piantissimo begged E.Gadd to let him save the day, but E.Gadd warned him of reduced pay, and that the Mushroom Kingdom's Toad-Knight Army would take care of the Goombas and Robo-Mario. Piantissimo was getting more frustrated with E.Gadd keeping him from helping and worsening events on the radio.

3. Piantissimo Sneaks Out of E. Gadd's Laboratories, Fixes Robo-Mario and Defeats King Goomboss

Piantissimo felt like yelling at E.Gadd, but told himself to calm down and to take out the anger on the Goombas. He left an apology note to his boss E.Gadd and snuck out the Laboratories. (The 7 Star-Spirits commended Piantissimo's decision to help save the Kingdom as they watched from Star Haven.) Piantissimo first got his "Ultima-Tool" to try to stop Robo-Mario from causing mayhem.

When he found Robo-Mario, he saw Robo-Mario scaring both Toads and Goombas away, Piantissimo fought Robo-Mario for 25 minutes, and defeated the robot by quickly reaching the power switch on Robo-Mario's back and using the Ultima-Tool's wrench tool head to fix the robot. Now Piantissimo had Robo-Mario to help him and the two easily made their way to the Goomb Forest Province. Piantissimo had an easy time outwitting the Goombas, since they are not too bright. (Piantissimo even laughed at how dumb they seemed.)

Piantissimo with Robo-Mario's help released the dozen Toads that were kidnapped, by easily breaking open a poorly fortified prison cell the Goombas constructed to imprison the Toads. Soon, Piantissimo and Robo-Mario reached King Goomboss' small and poorly constructed fortress. King Goomboss goofily threatened Piantissimo and pompously gave dialogue of his plots on how he would eventually take over the Mushroom Kingdom for King Koopa. Piantissimo told King Goomboss that he and his Goomba Army shenanigans are getting old and are poorly thought out. Piantissimo cracks his knuckles and tells King Goomboss to get ready for another lesson.

Piantissimo and Robo-Mario defeated King Goomboss and they freed Luigi. The Goombas we're too scared to retaliate and they just told Piantissimo, Luigi and Robo-Mario to leave. King Goomboss unconsciously swore revenge at the three before they left. Piantissimo, picked up a boulder, he said to King Goomboss "You wanna BET?!" and threw a boulder at him.

4. Piantissimo Get's Fired

The Toads in Toad Town commended Piantissimo for saving the villagers and Luigi, as well as stopping Robo-Mario from rampaging. Some Toads we're not happy with E.Gadd's decision to release Robo-Mario and how it went haywire, so E.Gadd was sued. E.Gadd was unhappy about this and he was also displeased of how Piantissimo did not listen about doing the tasks from earlier.

Unfortunately, E.Gadd demoted Piantissimo from technician assistant to janitor, Piantissimo was outraged with E.Gadd, he told E.Gadd "I JUST SAVED LUIGI AND A BUNCH OF TOADS!! AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET?!! I HAD TO DO SOMETHING?!! I HAD TO FIX YOUR MARIO-BOT TO KEEP IT FROM ATTACK'IN OTHERS!! YOU KNOW WHAT, WHO NEEDS YOU!! I'M OUTTA HERE!!" E.Gadd said "FINE!! LEAVE! YOU'RE FIRED!"

Piantissimo was without a job and felt miserable. He took out his anger by ground-pounding boulders with his feet alone at a mountain side in the Metro Kingdom. Later, he applied for a technician job at a car repair place in the Metro Kingdom and waited to be given the job. A few days later, Piantissimo in a bitter mood lounged at the Mushroom Kingdom's west coast beach, waiting to hear from the job he applied for.

5. Toadette's Plea for Help, Another Threat Rises

Suddenly, Toadette ran to Piantissimo and yelled for his help, Piantissimo angrily turned away from Toadette in his lounge chair and told her "BEAT IT TOADETTE! I DON'T want to be BOTHERED! If Toadsworth forgot where he left his glasses in the Castle for MILLIONTH TIME, I DON'T WANT TO HELP!"

Toadette said "No it's not Toadsworth this time! The Kingdom is under attack by these scary metallic monsters carrying axes! They kidnapped some Toads and innocent Goombas from the Castle and a few villages! I think one of the Goombas was Goombario and Luigi needs your help! I even heard these monster previously captured someone you know who was look for you at Castle, your boss the Professor!" Piantissimo in utter shock said "E.GADD?! THEY CAPTURED THE PROFESSOR AND A FEW OTHERS?! It sounds like Luigi needs my help AGAIN!! LET'S GO TOADETTE!!

6. Piantissimo, Peachette and Luigi's Journey, Cheap-Cheap Trouble, Troopa Jr. Gets in the Way.

Piantissimo, Toadette, who turned herself into Peachette with a super crown and Luigi made their way to a Mushroom Kingdom tennis stadium where the axe-welding monsters were said to keeping E.Gadd, Goombario and the civilians.

7. The 3 Heroes Meet the Axe-Welding Monsters

Piantissimo, Peachette and Luigi found the culprits and hid themselves from them in order to observe them.Luigi was in shock to find out that the axe-welding monsters were the Axem Rangers, Luigi told Piantissimo and Peachette that long ago, Mario, Peach, Bowser, Prince Mallow and Geno fought the Axem Rangers, only now they looked different. Luigi even pointed out how strangely they have a new familiar emblem on their armor and Luigi said "WAIT?! Tha-tha-That's Fawful's symbol?! But we defeated Fawful?"

Peachette told Luigi and Piantissimo that "There's no time to waste! LET'S SAVE THEM!!" When the Axem Rangers saw the 3 heroes approaching them, Axem Red (the leader) said, "Not a step closer weaklings! Or Axem Yellow here will slice apart this young pathetic lad in the blue hat!" Luigi said "GOOMBARIO!!", Peachette said "LET HIM GO YOU AWFUL MEANIES!!" Goombario was crying and was yelling for them to help, Piantissimo yelled at the Rangers saying "PUT ONE SCRATCH ON HIM AND I'LL TURN Y'ALL TO SCRAP METAL FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY UNCLE!!!"

E.Gadd nervously said "Piantissimo! Luigi! I believe in you!! And Piantissimo! If I do not make it out of this, I just wanted to apo...". E.Gadd was interupted by Axem Pink, who told E.Gadd "ZIP IT TINY!! Or I'll slice you into machete paper!" Piantissimo told E.Gadd "HANG ON TIGHT SIR! WE'LL SAVE YA!!". Peachette then asked the Rangers what that huge, strange and scary-looking machine is for? Axem Blue told them that this is their new master's machine called the "genetic-conversion machine" Axem Blue explains that their new master wanted to convert Toads and anyone they can find into super-clones that have the likeness of their master.

Luigi begins to shake and says "-GASP!- I-I-I-IT M-MUST BE FAWFUL!! BUT-A-H-H-HOWW?!! Me and M-Mario DEFEATED him?! Fawful tried to make these-a-clones before, but of goombas and koopas!" Axem Black told the 3 heroes that their master indeed calls himself Fawful and that they will turn the toads, goombas and the old man into super-clones. Luigi and Peachette both gasp in shock, knowing that the insidious Fawful has somehow returned and Luigi began to shake profusely. Piantissimo then yelled "OH YEAH?!! WELL TELL YOUR FREAK-A-ZOID MASTER HE AIN'T CHANG'IN NOBODY!! GET READY TO BE POUNDED INTO SLAG!!"

8. The 3 Heroes Vs. The Axe-Welders

Piantissimo, Peachette and Luigi as fought the 5 Neo-Axem Rangers for about 40 minutes. During the battle, Peachette unfortunately loses her super crown power up and is Toadette again. Toadette quickly grabs an ice flower from her backpack and becomes Ice Toadette. Then Toadette quickly got out a boomerang and a tanooki leaf, she gave the power ups to Piantissimo and Luigi. Piantissimo became Tanooki Piantissimo and Luigi became Boomerang Luigi.

The 3 heroes were beating the Neo-Axem Rangers and successfully destroyed the genetic-conversion machine, the Neo-Axem Rangers never had the chance to convert anyone into super-clones. The Neo-Axem Rangers made a retreat, Axem Red vowed revenge against the heroes and the Mushroom Kingdom. Piantissimo yelled at them saying "Y'ALL ARE A BUNCH OF SISSIES!!" Then Toadette said "YEAH you meanies! WHAT HE SAID!".

9. Piantissimo is Thankful for his New Job Position, Finds a Car Repair Job and makes New Friends?

The Toads, innocent Goombas, Goombario and E.Gadd commended and thank the 3 heroes for saving them. Goombario was excited telling the heroes how cool it was to watch them fight the Neo-Axem Rangers. E.Gadd then told Piantissimo that he wanted to apologize for how he treated him earlier. E.Gadd thought it was rather harsh of him to demote Piantissimo to being a janitor and E.Gadd explained how he was wrong to hold Piantissimo back from hero's duty. E.Gadd let Piantissimo work for him again, only this time he is demoted from technician assistant to a lower-paying technician position at E.Gadd Laboratories.

Piantissimo was a little disappointed for being demoted to a lower-technician position, but was thankful that he still gets more pay than the janitor position. E.Gadd promised Piantissimo that he would give back his old higher-paying technician assistant job back. As long as Piantissimo did not submit his project late anymore, making sure each project is on-time. Piantissimo enthusiastically promised E.Gadd he would not let him down.

Since Piantissimo was making somewhat less money in his lower-technician position, he got a second part-time job he applied for earlier at a car repair place in Diamond City. (Diamond City is in the Metro Kingdom along with New Donk City according to my fan-canon.) Piantissimo is shocked and glad to see Dribble again, (who Piantissimo got to know from the last Mario Kart Grand Prix). Dribble introduced Spitz to Piantissimo and from then on, Piantissimo began a new workplace friendship with Spitz and Dribble.

10. Piantissimo Meets The Star-Spirit of Wisdom and later The Legendary Star-Spirit

one of the 7 Star-Spirits, known as "Eldstar" chose Piantissimo to be one of the 7 chosen heroes to save the world. They gave him "The Seal of the Authority 7" on his forehead to empower him as a chosen one. Piantissimo eventually encounters Geno and Geno informs Piantissimo that he has come to recruit him to save the world. (Piantissimo is the first chosen hero to be recruited, Iggy Koopa on the other hand will be the (unexpected) second chosen hero...).

Again, I am sorry if Piantissimo's backstory was kinda long like Mimi's backstory, but I thought it would be important and cool to show how Piantissimo obtained his anti-hero status and reveal a story of Piantissimo after the events of SMS. Piantissimo has been a favorite of mine, due to how I've always wondered what he looked like without his mask ever since I was about 7 years old. I would like to see Piantissimo in Mario games like "New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party". Plus I and other fans think it's about time the Mario cast had some more diverse representation, if you know what mean.

Piantissimo told King Goomboss that he and his Goomba Army shenanigans are getting old and are poorly thought out. Piantissimo cracks his knuckles and tells King Goomboss to get ready for another lesson.

Piantissimo and Robo-Mario defeated King Goomboss and they freed Luigi. The Goombas we're too scared to retaliate and they just told Piantissimo, Luigi and Robo-Mario to leave. King Goomboss unconsciously swore revenge at the three before they left. Piantissimo, picked up a boulder, he said to King Goomboss "You wanna BET?!" and threw a boulder at him.

4. Piantissimo Get's Fired

The Toads in Toad Town commended Piantissimo for saving the villagers and Luigi, as well as stopping Robo-Mario from rampaging. Some Toads we're not happy with E.Gadd's decision to release Robo-Mario and how it went haywire, so E.Gadd was sued. E.Gadd was unhappy about this and he was also displeased of how Piantissimo did not listen about doing the tasks from earlier.

Unfortunately, E.Gadd demoted Piantissimo from technician assistant to janitor, Piantissimo was outraged with E.Gadd, he told E.Gadd "I JUST SAVED LUIGI AND A BUNCH OF TOADS!! AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET?!! I HAD TO DO SOMETHING?!! I HAD TO FIX YOUR MARIO-BOT TO KEEP IT FROM ATTACK'IN OTHERS!! YOU KNOW WHAT, WHO NEEDS YOU!! I'M OUTTA HERE!!" E.Gadd said "FINE!! LEAVE! YOU'RE FIRED!"

Piantissimo was without a job and felt miserable. He took out his anger by ground-pounding boulders with his feet alone at a mountain side in the Metro Kingdom. Later, he applied for a technician job at a car repair place in the Metro Kingdom and waited to be given the job. A few days later, Piantissimo in a bitter mood lounged at the Mushroom Kingdom's west coast beach, waiting to hear from the job he applied for.

5. Toadette's Plea for Help, Another Threat Rises

Suddenly, Toadette ran to Piantissimo and yelled for his help, Piantissimo angrily turned away from Toadette in his lounge chair and told her "BEAT IT TOADETTE! I DON'T want to be BOTHERED! If Toadsworth forgot where he left his glasses in the Castle for MILLIONTH TIME, I DON'T WANT TO HELP!"

Toadette said "No it's not Toadsworth this time! The Kingdom is under attack by these scary metallic monsters carrying axes! They kidnapped some Toads and innocent Goombas from the Castle and a few villages! I think one of the Goombas was Goombario and Luigi needs your help! I even heard these monster previously captured someone you know who was look for you at Castle, your boss the Professor!" Piantissimo in utter shock said "E.GADD?! THEY CAPTURED THE PROFESSOR AND A FEW OTHERS?! It sounds like Luigi needs my help AGAIN!! LET'S GO TOADETTE!!

6. Piantissimo, Peachette and Luigi's Journey, Cheap-Cheap Trouble, Troopa Jr. Gets in the Way.

Piantissimo, Toadette, who turned herself into Peachette with a super crown and Luigi made their way to a Mushroom Kingdom tennis stadium where the axe-welding monsters were said to keeping E.Gadd, Goombario and the civilians.

7. The 3 Heroes Meet the Axe-Welding Monsters

Piantissimo, Peachette and Luigi found the culprits and hid themselves from them in order to observe them.Luigi was in shock to find out that the axe-welding monsters were the Axem Rangers, Luigi told Piantissimo and Peachette that long ago, Mario, Peach, Bowser, Prince Mallow and Geno fought the Axem Rangers, only now they looked different. Luigi even pointed out how strangely they have a new familiar emblem on their armor and Luigi said "WAIT?! Tha-tha-That's Fawful's symbol?! But we defeated Fawful?"

Peachette told Luigi and Piantissimo that "There's no time to waste! LET'S SAVE THEM!!" When the Axem Rangers saw the 3 heroes approaching them, Axem Red (the leader) said, "Not a step closer weaklings! Or Axem Yellow here will slice apart this young pathetic lad in the blue hat!" Luigi said "GOOMBARIO!!", Peachette said "LET HIM GO YOU AWFUL MEANIES!!" Goombario was crying and was yelling for them to help, Piantissimo yelled at the Rangers saying "PUT ONE SCRATCH ON HIM AND I'LL TURN Y'ALL TO SCRAP METAL FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY UNCLE!!!"

E.Gadd nervously said "Piantissimo! Luigi! I believe in you!! And Piantissimo! If I do not make it out of this, I just wanted to apo...". E.Gadd was interupted by Axem Pink, who told E.Gadd "ZIP IT TINY!! Or I'll slice you into machete paper!" Piantissimo told E.Gadd "HANG ON TIGHT SIR! WE'LL SAVE YA!!". Peachette then asked the Rangers what that huge, strange and scary-looking machine is for? Axem Blue told them that this is their new master's machine called the "genetic-conversion machine" Axem Blue explains that their new master wanted to convert Toads and anyone they can find into super-clones that have the likeness of their master.

Luigi begins to shake and says "-GASP!- I-I-I-IT M-MUST BE FAWFUL!! BUT-A-H-H-HOWW?!! Me and M-Mario DEFEATED him?! Fawful tried to make these-a-clones before, but of goombas and koopas!" Axem Black told the 3 heroes that their master indeed calls himself Fawful and that they will turn the toads, goombas and the old man into super-clones. Luigi and Peachette both gasp in shock, knowing that the insidious Fawful has somehow returned and Luigi began to shake profusely. Piantissimo then yelled "OH YEAH?!! WELL TELL YOUR FREAK-A-ZOID MASTER HE AIN'T CHANG'IN NOBODY!! GET READY TO BE POUNDED INTO SLAG!!"

8. The 3 Heroes Vs. The Axe-Welders

Piantissimo, Peachette and Luigi as fought the 5 Neo-Axem Rangers for about 40 minutes. During the battle, Peachette unfortunately loses her super crown power up and is Toadette again. Toadette quickly grabs an ice flower from her backpack and becomes Ice Toadette. Then Toadette quickly got out a boomerang and a tanooki leaf, she gave the power ups to Piantissimo and Luigi. Piantissimo became Tanooki Piantissimo and Luigi became Boomerang Luigi.

The 3 heroes were beating the Neo-Axem Rangers and successfully destroyed the genetic-conversion machine, the Neo-Axem Rangers never had the chance to convert anyone into super-clones. The Neo-Axem Rangers made a retreat, Axem Red vowed revenge against the heroes and the Mushroom Kingdom. Piantissimo yelled at them saying "Y'ALL ARE A BUNCH OF SISSIES!!" Then Toadette said "YEAH you meanies! WHAT HE SAID!".

9. Piantissimo is Thankful for his New Job Position, Finds a Car Repair Job and makes New Friends?

The Toads, innocent Goombas, Goombario and E.Gadd commended and thank the 3 heroes for saving them. Goombario was excited telling the heroes how cool it was to watch them fight the Neo-Axem Rangers. E.Gadd then told Piantissimo that he wanted to apologize for how he treated him earlier. E.Gadd thought it was rather harsh of him to demote Piantissimo to being a janitor and E.Gadd explained how he was wrong to hold Piantissimo back from hero's duty. E.Gadd let Piantissimo work for him again, only this time he is demoted from technician assistant to a lower-paying technician position at E.Gadd Laboratories.

Piantissimo was a little disappointed for being demoted to a lower-technician position, but was thankful that he still gets more pay than the janitor position. E.Gadd promised Piantissimo that he would give back his old higher-paying technician assistant job back. As long as Piantissimo did not submit his project late anymore, making sure each project is on-time. Piantissimo enthusiastically promised E.Gadd he would not let him down.

Since Piantissimo was making somewhat less money in his lower-technician position, he got a second part-time job he applied for earlier at a car repair place in Diamond City. (Diamond City is in the Metro Kingdom along with New Donk City according to my fan-canon.) Piantissimo is shocked and glad to see Dribble again, (who Piantissimo got to know from the last Mario Kart Grand Prix). Dribble introduced Spitz to Piantissimo and from then on, Piantissimo began a new workplace friendship with Spitz and Dribble.

10. Piantissimo Meets The Star-Spirit of Wisdom and later The Legendary Star-Spirit

one of the 7 Star-Spirits, known as "Eldstar" chose Piantissimo to be one of the 7 chosen heroes to save the world. They gave him "The Seal of the Authority 7" on his forehead to empower him as a chosen one. Piantissimo eventually encounters Geno and Geno informs Piantissimo that he has come to recruit him to save the world. (Piantissimo is the first chosen hero to be recruited, Iggy Koopa on the other hand will be the (unexpected) second chosen hero...).

Again, I am sorry if Piantissimo's backstory was kinda long like Mimi's backstory, but I thought it would be important and cool to show how Piantissimo obtained his anti-hero status and reveal a story of Piantissimo after the events of SMS. Piantissimo has been a favorite of mine, due to how I've always wondered what he looked like without his mask ever since I was about 7 years old. I would like to see Piantissimo in Mario games like "New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party". Plus I and other fans think it's about time the Mario cast had some more diverse representation, if you know what mean.
