Description Our first BG series nemesis was a blatant riff off the Kurgan from Higlander, with a touch of Gwar for good measure. This tone study does exactly that, straight from source

Reminds me of the Kurgan from Highlander. Nicely done

I love this concept. I may make a Sarevok Skyrim mod some time in the future and would love to add this concept as a variation to the mod. If it's ok of course.

This is absolutely badass. I'm a Dungeon Master in our DND session and the main villian, in the story I wrote, is a fallen paladin. I have searched the internet for countless hours to find the best picture of him, and finally here it is! Thank You so much. When my players saw this they dropped their jaws to the ground and almost shit in their pants. They will meet their doom soon; the final battle is now just in few weeks! I hope You dont mind I use this picture! Thanks again!

This is fantastic! I'm just about to do Ascension for the first time with Sarevok in my party, and your pic is perfect timing.  Now I'll be imagining him looking this badass when he helps take down Amellysan.

Oh my God, this is so great. I love that the armor is more blue than grey, it makes it look much more interesting and emphasizes his glowing eyes. I also like how his scars look. He's definitely one of my favourite video game characters ever!

Outstanding. I love your take on the armour - It adds a realism not found in how Sarevok is usually portrayed. I might make this my desktop background if you don't mind?

I always believed my favourite Antagonist (Sarevok) was based off of the Kurgan. The similarities are obvious, especially when you consider the voice and the parallel themes between BG and highlander: 'There can be only one.'

Hey thanks man! And yes you're dead on with this one. When I created Sarevok it was the marching order - he's the Kurgan for the sake of discussion. He was referenced as such throughout development by Kurgvok, Saregan, SK the list went on. So I threw a little Gwar in there and he was done. It was back in the day where we had creative free rein. I'd certainly approach his design much differently now but we definitely had fun with him then and thought I'd homage him. I may do a couple others and definitely one of our BG2 nemesis Jon Iranicus as well.

Irenicus would be one I'd love to see. Just out of curiosity, to settle a decade long debate I've had with a friend of mine - Were you watching Vin Diesel films along with Highlander when you guys designed Sarevok? I can't watch Pitch Black these days without thinking "I will be the last - and you will go first!!"

It's the bald head and glowing eyes. I can't shake it!

Well, Pitch Black was 2000 and we were working on BG in 1996. It's a curious coincidence of near timing but Clancy Brown in Highlander was our primary inspiration. But if it works go with it

Aha! Was the glowing eyes purposefully done to illustrate his Bhaal-like blood? Or was it simply to illustrate that Sarevok is, ultimately a bad ass - god child or not? In the original BG I had assumed that it was done for artistic effect to make his eyes stand out from underneath that awesome helmet of his - but then out came BG2 and the first portrait of Sarevok unmasked was released!

Yessir! The glowing served a dual purpose - once to indicate a heritage not entirely normal and visually simply to make his eyes stand out from the helmet
