Love it, as much as i hate using charcoal and pastel, feels horrible in my hands, i cannot deny how good it is for getting different shades.

i agree... which is why i use charcoal pencils, and for the pastels i use this www.panpastel.com (they're awesome) if u like pastel i strongly recommend them!

well to make things clear i use charcoal pencil, i haven't tried vine or compressed, etc. (yet) and i recently switched from graphite (within the last couple years) in my opinion it's more forgiving than graphite, it doesn't have that high gloss (which i used to hate) it picks up nice and blends well... so i don't think you'll have problems with it... it's just a great medium to work with... i hope you have fun with it like i have!!!
