... a rainbow eye.Yeah. Talk about a friggin' hard poster to make. I hate my concept. It's so expected. But it was the best idea I had, so I just had to go with it.
This is for my poster design class. We were told to make a poster describing what graphic design is to us, only in a way that would make "normal" people understand. Kind of like, "what's so great about design? what does it do for us?" Thus the cheesy "Graphic design makes the world a more beautiful place." That wasn't my idea, trust me.
My original idea was for a world to be inside the eyeball, but when I put the rainbow on the lineart, the world just got in the way. SO now it's rainbow eye.
Drawing originally done in pencil, then spectrumified in CS2.
edit: Seeing as I've been out of school for over a year now, I figured I should update this with the version from my portfolio class. Fixed composition and gradient. Thanks to everyone who keeps fav'ing this. <3

Really nice, well done. How did you make the scratch marks in the background? Is that from graphite vectors or font?

Apologies for the insaaaanely late reply, but the scratch marks are done with pencil. The entire drawing is simply a pencil sketch colorized in Photoshop. Any little grungy tidbits are either eraser fragments or just bits left over from erased shading. :3

Ha, that's exactly what it is βΒ just Photoshop's default rainbow gradient over a scanned-in pencil drawing.

Two, actually. I adjusted the levels on the original scan to get as much contrast as possible, then I'm PRETTY sure I magic wanded all the black and set it on its own layer. It's been a while since I made this. ^^'
