The year is 3066 and the Smurfs have colonized the moon. Why? Because it was the only safe place left. By now the humans had a presence on or around all the rocky moons and planets of the Solar system, mining was big business. The Gargamels were the first to find a new power source on Triton and with it they were able to build the 'Gargamelian Empire', they ruled over all mankind, everyone had to submit or be banished from the Earth.
The Smurfs were opposed to the new order and together with some humans they fought the Empire with 'Smurfguerilla tactics' , but they were outnumbered, their leaders taken captive and their whole way of life gone forever.
Who could save them now? Was there no-one in the whole Universe?

There is, he's the Doctor and he's going to protect the Smurfs.
