Description
Ok here we go!We have here Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. 2 Uncles and 3 nephews, hee hee!
I applied some new techinques on this. 2 actually. One, is the apply shading in areas that are contain feathers (Like tail feathers, and head feathers), by making the shading seem like its more feathery there. The other...well, just to apply more vibrant color with the colored outlines.
Well, I hope you all like it!

I love this picture but not to be a stickler, it's actually 2 uncles and 4 nephews since Donald is Scrooge McDuck's Nephew as well.

Shouldn't it be 4 nephews? I mean, Donald counts as a nephew to Scrooge...
Oh well, nice pic anyway. I love these ducks.

UncleLaurence In reply to battybuddy [2008-04-13 22:34:33 +0000 UTC]
Well...I guess...but since Donald is a Uncle and a Nephew...I didn't want Donald to be counted as a nephew in this photo because then he would be grouped with the triplets as nephews, but Donald is one generation of Nephew, while the triplets are the newer generation Nephews.
But also, this conflicts with Scrooge being first generation Uncle, and Donald being Newer Generation Uncle. I felt that Scrooge needed another "Uncle" to accompany him, because 4 to 1 is kind over a bit.
But anyway thanks!

Well, when I made this comment, I was thinking of this one old riddle- maybe you've heard of it.
Two fathers and two sons go fishing. They each catch one fish, totaling 3 fish. How is that possible?
Answer, The three of them came from 3 separate generations. The father was both a father to the son, and the son of the grandfather. Hence two fathers(Father & Grandfather) and two sons(Father & son.)

You really did a MOST awesome JOB!!!!!! Carl Barks would be so VERY PROUD!!!!!!
My friend and coworker who is a huge Disney Duck fan like we are had ALL EVERY ORGINAL DUCKTALES CARL BARKS COMIC BOOKS from the 50's and 60's!! IN MINT CONDITION!! He came home one day from college and found out that HIS MOTHER THREW AWAY THE ENTIRE COLLECTION!!! Ah man!! He was fit to be tied!!! But his mother did buy him a Scrooge McDuck animation cel that was signed by
Carl Barks
himself!!! It's really a beautiful cel!!
Jimmy was able to get some of his collection back however--through ebay!!
I so love Ducktales as well and slowly but surely I too am building a Ducktales collection with two animation cels and some comic books. That Life and Times of $crooge McDuck book by Don Rosa is really awesome!!! Tells ya all about Scroogies life history!!
With art this awesome, you will most certainly be the NEXT Carl Barks!

Sweet, UL! This is really nice Did you have any references, or did you just draw it off the top of your mind? It's really good
I especially like the new shading. Well, I gotta go out in service, so I can't write much more. Seeya!

UncleLaurence In reply to Queen-of-the-Saps [2008-01-19 20:28:14 +0000 UTC]
Well, I had to get a reference of Donald because I more or less forgot how his jacket and bowtie looked like, that's pretty much the only reference I have. Other than that, watching Ducktales all afternoon got me a clear idea again of the looks of the duck crew (Donald RARELY shows up in Ducktales, so that's probably why I needed a jacket reference.)
HAVE fun in service!!

Thanks! I did.
It's amazing how you can draw with barely any references. I usually need at least one. . . Otherwise it doesn't come out real well.

UncleLaurence In reply to Queen-of-the-Saps [2008-01-20 00:52:28 +0000 UTC]
Its takes practice. I've been drawing ducks ever since I was a sophomore in high school which is about in 2004 I believe. The first comic I did, every time I look at it, I remember my struggles in trying to become as a good as the Disney drawers.
It just takes practice. Drawing, then scanning, then inking and coloring in photoshop, is my way to go. You have so much more freedom when you hand draw, then inking is a breeze (Almost...). Thanks I am glad you like my drawing, this took a long time, and I used about 1/3 of my eraser for all the ducks, duck drawings don't come out as perfect as you want all the time.

You're welcome! And yes, I know exactly what you mean about not being as perfect as you thought/wanted it to be. . . *sigh* I know that feeling very well.
