Description Ladies, gentlemen and everyone in-between let's all put aside the AR's the semi auto shotguns and the pistols and let's appreciate this magnificent battle hardened rifle. Being designed in 1928 this nearly hundred year old rifle concept planning and engineering only prove simple was good and efficient was better. The Garand was welcomed to arms in 1936 by the U.S as a standard rifle for 22 years.

By most accounts, the M1 rifle performed well. General George S. Patton called it "the greatest battle implement ever devised". The M1 replaced the bolt-action M1903 Springfield as the U.S.' service rifle in 1936, and was itself replaced by the selective-fire M14 rifle on March 26, 1958.

Calibers came in .30-06 Springfield (7.62×63mm)
7.62×51mm NATO (.308 Winchester) (Postwar use by U.S. Navy)

Anyway you look at it those are very powerful rounds to be flying 500 yards this masterpiece has one thing any gun enthusiast likes to hear and that's the iconic M1 ping. Anyone who's ever used this rifle in a video game knows when it's empty it pings but I have some bad news about game pings. They're becoming less and less seen as games evolve and not used correctly in movies.

But then you need to ask yourself. What causes the ping anyway that doesn't seem helpful in war? And why don the movies says include that?

When the clip is ejected the physical process imparts energy into in that makes it vibrate. Hence the ringing sound or ping. Is the M1 Garand ping a myth?

Not it's not a myth and unfortunately it allowed the enemy to know you were reloading and if you didn't have someone next to you with a fully ready to go rifle that was the moment your life either ended took a turn for the worst or you grabbed the closest thing to fight back with.

Stay safe when operating firearm's they are not toys even an AD (accidental discharge can and will be lethal.) When operating a M1 Garand be sure to watch your thumb Garand thumb is no joke and has caused thumbs to require stitches before.

And yes I already know not all of this is going to be correct it's what research and Wikipedia said so it'll probably change in a week anyway there's some fact I left out yes like how the Garand is still in use in some countries I know I just don't want to be here all day.
