As good as all the callbacks were in Episode 6 of "Samurai Jack" (Season 5), I kinda wanted to see Ashi encounter the Canine Archaeologists from the first season, or at least their leader, Rothchild

Also so much for them "taking there leave of those forsaken mines" and "continuing there once nomadic life", but I digress. You could make the argument they returned there to settle down. Same way you could make the argument that the man leading the Spartans was brutak, not his father.

Well, now that I think of it, 50 years have passed at the start of Season 5 and dogs don't live that long, so yeah, let's just say all dogs go to heaven...

Unless the super-smart dogs have advanced lifespans, as evidenced when Rothchild DID turn up in the finale. That still blows my mind, considering I drew this quite a while before that episode.
