I remember catching caterpillars of all sorts a few years ago (with my younger sisters) and we put them in a tank where we had fresh leaves and water for them to feed off of. Some time later, they turned into cocoons. Our goal was to hatch out a butterfly. So we waited. And waited. And impatiently waited. Finally, they all hatched. We were in dismay. ALL of them were moths. Besides our disappointment that they were moths, we were more happy to see the actually metamorphisis from caterpillar to cocoon, to the final stage. It was an awesome learning experience.

yes I have a cracked copy of CS3... could get it for you if you could download it, but I wonder if you might have trouble with that too... also, adobe is offering (or was and I think still is) Photoshop CS6 Beta test version for free, I think you can find links to that download in 's journals...
as for GIMP, from what i read in photocomix journal, they've made the new one more like Photoshop... its all in one window now instead of being a bunch of separate windows, which was the one thing I didn't like about GIMP.
Maybe best bet would be the CS6 beta... sure its a beta and might have some bugs, but Photoshop CS6 will probably be at least $300 when the full release comes out, so a free version is probably a good deal...

well, it is complex, but not really difficult... there are amazingly detailed help files, and most of the time you can just hit F1 and it will bring up the help for the actual thing you are trying to do, so you usually don't even have to search all that much
