HOLLOW KNIGHT
I just started this week but I’m loving this game! This is probably not accurate at all to the plot, but I’m still exploring the forgotten crossroads so it’ll have to do for now-
I can’t wait to finish! (Please don't spoil me in the comments :') )

As for the legs, if you google the knight (or just hollow knight, if you ever plan on playing and don't want spoilers which I'd highly recommend, as I really don't know how much relating to the knight would be a spoiler yet), you'll see that the legs are two little nubs barely visible when his cloak isn't flailing behind him. The head is a bit rounder, but it's a bit hard to tell since some times it looks a bit rounder, some times it's more square and people tend to draw it either way.
If you ever pick up this game I hope you'll enjoy it, it's very fun and a beautiful game!

No worries, hope you'll enjoy it! It's really worth it and if you ever need help with it (they do call it the dark souls of metroidvanias-) there are a lot of beginner friendly videos on youtube for tips and a pretty good community on reddit

The feeling I was going for in here was more the calm before the storm in a way, that sense of awe and discovery when you first start exploring the game! I didn't want the battle to be a part of it, just figured it would look cooler with the nail in hand rather than sheated ahah, and well, for once staying still wouldn't hurt the Shade, would it? (totally wasn't expecting it to fight back when I first died and found it, I just wanted it to chill-).
The tendrils are there to fill in the space that felt a little empty without and to draw focus to the Knight and the Shade, I actually have no idea if they do anything in the story or are just there for aesthetic since I saw them in some box art when I veeeeery carefully googled references. As for the Shade, I tried to stick to the game's colors as much as possible, but couldn't use any other color for it without screwing up my color palette or making it get lost in the background. This was the one that worked best and still allowed me to give it just enough shadows and lighting to make it look more 3D!
