The way the arms are connected just adds to the design choice all the more.
The digitigrade legs also brings a bit of a devilish appearance to it, too.

Ah, well do you see the X within a circle on the toys? Those are called the Operator's Symbol and represent Slenderman. The rumors I hear behind that are that if you find that symbol in your house or on some of your belongings, it's an indication that he is targeting you. In the computer game "Slender", the notes you have to pick up have this symbol on them, along with warnings and writings indicating that you are screwed. He has picked you and so far has you running right into his territory, a puppeteer using fear to drive you into insanity before taking you away. At least, that's what I know.
