Description Jazzystuff

Believe it or not, but I actually did have a jazz/blues phase in high school. Peer pressure.. It didn't stick very much. Fela Kuti did.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q2F2T… - Colonial Mentality - Fela Kuti. I saw him live once plus I read his biography. There was this creation story at the end featuring a.o. Ibi = Evil, The Devil, Satan. I remember the statement "Ibi invents, but does not create". Which might very well be true.

I'm still rather sympathetic to the blues/blooz/bluez. In my opinion one of the greatest blues musicians was Jimi Hendrix. He took the style into wholly new directions. Sadly, no one seemed to care to follow up on his endeavors, so instead we ended up with a number of dying out immutable blasts from the past, a bunch of sterile Robert Johnson copycats and loads of 12-bar "beer music". I used to own a small pile of Howlin' Wolf LPS, those were great. Currently playing Smokestack Lightnin' and still enjoying it!
