Description
06/08/2023 vs. 17/08/2023. Not sure which conclusion, if any, can be drawn from these maps. I'm getting the impression that stuff is going on in the South of Ukraine the Ukrainian authorities feel there's no need to brag about. But the the output of these maps varies wildly per day, with rain showers obviously reducing the number of fires. Having a satellite specializing in short-lived bursts of gun and mortar fire would be useful in this case."The Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) distributes Near Real-Time (NRT) active fire data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua and Terra satellites, and the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) aboard S-NPP and NOAA 20 (formally known as JPSS-1). Globally these data are available within 3 hours of satellite observation, but for the US and Canada active fire detections are available in real-time. The active fire / hotspot data can be viewed in FIRMS FIRE MAP or in NASA’S WORLDVIEW , delivered as email alerts or downloaded in the following formats: SHP, KML, TXT, WMS. FIRMS is part of NASA’s Land, Atmosphere Near real-time Capability for EOS (LANCE)."
