I love to tinker around with lairs in the GIMP. Everything I ever post is lair-based. To be honest, I don't even have a clue how to use the paint tools for example. Unable to draw even a straight line of a specified thickness in the GIMP. And of course, everything must be filtered. My favorite filter is the Alien Map, at the standard settings. Filtered results are obviously never used as is, everything has to be merged with the previous, unfiltered lair to some extent (percentage), after possibly being inverted and re-hued. But precisely therein lies the fun, for me at least.
