Description Hi! Little DeviantArt life update...

So im in japan now and life is good. The dorm is shit but cheap and close to the uni while uni and city are a lot of fun

So apart from getting my new life straightened out, heres what I'm doing right now artistically:

There will be a school festival the coming weekend and our animation class decided to basically animate those traditional japanese paintings. So therell be these paper walls with a pretty landscape and traditionally clad japanese figures that are being animated. Some of these figures will have humorous crossovers to modern day, like a samurai drawing a sword- except its a selfie stick

So I've been doing my first actual animations! First one is a 57 frame animation of a fisherman accidentally catching a Pacific Rim mech. Seconds a carameldansen sumo in 27 glorious fat wobbling frames and finally a tiny 5 frames animation of a priest playing nintendo 3DS. Communication with the students here is hard as they know little to no english but I hope I can get hold of scanned versions so I can post GIFs here or something
Also, with that newfound knowledge, I kinda wanna do little animations for my own stuff now

Second big thing is the movie I will be doing for the next 5 months. Colaborating with a classmate of mine who specializes in 3D sculpting and animation, we wanna tell the story of  a lone spaceman on a planet made un-inhabitable during a war.  Out of old war machinery parts, he is building a life conceiving machine to make plants adapt to the reddish, deadly atmosphere, making the first step to terraform the planet.

... which finally brings us to the deviation you've clicked on. That's a first mood painting of the first of two rooms of the research station of our lone spaceman (whose design is a placeholder for now). I've done a lot of rough prop sketches for Mareike to fill the first room in the last 2 weeks. So rough in fact that I cant post them here without insult. I'm glad Mareike knows my handwriting for 2 years now, so I neednt needlessly pretty up the drawing of a broomstick. I will though, later, for a portfolio collection. So see you there

Otherwise, I really feel the need to paint some stuff for myself again without grander purpose, but its hard to find the time with life being so eventful right now. I do miss you guys!

sorry for random italics, i copypasted the story summary from another forum and it wont go away lol...

Damn man, love it! It looks super cool! Exactly how you described it to me before
Love the wrinkly plastic floor too, it's a nice design element.

Hey thanks! Somehow I was really struggling with this one, so I'm really glad you like it. Interiors are much harder than landscapes it feels like. Couldnt find an ugly chair like this from that perspective either, so I shot the one Im sitting on right now. It's cool to know you keep looking at my stuff

I mulled over the story too, so instead of that akward "two factions work on the same project in the same building with one single man and he combines their technology", instead its now so that the scientist is working on his own, left behind or last man standing, working on this machine he assembles from war machinery parts. It'll show on his suit too, lots of duct tape etc.
