Description
Bughorse does a sad. So the story is simple. I had that one super old sketch of Chrysalis with a broken horn. This one And then somebody wrote a small fanfic about it (Lost the link.) It was about Celestia capturing Chrysalis and cutting her horn off as a punishment so she couldn't use magic. (but then Luna became sympathetic and relesed her) And so after some time I decided to illustrate this fanfic, but did only 2 pictures out of about 10 (These 2: So many wonders Fireflies? ) and then happily forgot about it. But then suddenly Tempest Shadow with her broken horn reminded me of it and I decided to draw this again... yeah.Related content

A true work of art in every way. I can practically taste the rage and fear and anguish gushing off of "bughorse"(lol).
The shading, coloring, highlights, its all done in a subtle and magnificent way. Bravo, my friend, bravo. Its near perfect in my mind, but I do have one suggestion. You can clearly see that the last bit of magic is oozing out of Chrys's horn and in a downward direction. I've always seen magic as a gaseous thing, and when gas is released from a pressured capsule, it usually bursts up and out, not out and down. I would suggest that in the future when doing drawing's similar to this one that you have the magic in a less solid form, a vapor of sorts, floating away like smoke out of a gun recently shot.
But once again, wonderful job and keep up the fantastic work!

Not if gas is heavier than air. For example have you seen dry ice evaporating?

Shackled from every side, the only way to burst out the rage is through tears and boiled blood.
An exceptional work. The focus points both on the horn and the eye do come with great amount of detail and care. And actually the whole left side of this work just flourish with quality and shows amount of time it took.
Can't say the same about the right side, it looks too rushed in the detail department, especially the holes in the hair which don't have any details on their borders. But that is not the bad thing, we're all got our shortcuts. Instead, i think the problem lies in a big amount of contrast on the far right side. Maybe if the hair and ear didn't get such quantity of shine it wouldn't lead the eye there too much.
• Linework ‒ Great, no problems here. The lines are accurate, the silhouette is solid.
• Shading ‒ Almost perfect. The neck looks kinda off in terms of texture, compared to her muzzle, like it's different material. It lacks some skin shine.
• Composition ‒ Astonishingly good! The way you used the light to focus on the shackles, horn and her expession is the A+ of storytelling.
• Atmosphere ‒ Nice, the whole portrayal of her emotions, along with color, delivers the situation perfectly.
The last thing can only guess is how much you were excited and inspired to finish this drawing. A magnificent work.
P.S: I hope these small quirks will only give you a strength for more things to learn for your future endeavours, cheers.

I would like to utilize this picture as part of a fanfiction, where Queen Chrysalis was defeated and brought to Equestria to face a trial, but was murdered before that could happen. In this fanfiction, her horn was broken, breaking her will as well. She died in the arms of the person defeating her on the battlefield and the murderer was banished from Equestrian soil.
This picture would fit one to one. But since we're all artists, I first want to ask for permission. You would be credited, of course.

With what little time's available to me right now, I doubt I can do this work the full justice that it deserves, the way the others who first commented on it have. But I absolutely love this pic, and all of its little details. From the ghostly, wispy appearance of Chrysalis' broken horn, to the subtle degrees of shading that cast darkness and reflecting light in believable degrees, to things like the extra length to Chrysalis' jawline and the tears sliding down her cheeks...all of it combines into a picture that depicts a vengeful-yet-broken villain, hiding their pain behind fruitless vows of revenge.

I don't know why, but the way her face is structured makes me think of Zira from the Lion King series.

Chrysalis: This day isn't going to be perfect. It's not the day I dreamed of since I was small. All my changelings gather around, pitying my broken horn. This day is turning out rotten after all.

What can I say? I like it, a lot. The flow of magic, bleeding from her horn, the ilumination on her mane.
The fact that she is far more...perforated? than usual...
