Description
Can you say "hour and a half in Photoshop"? I knew you could.Ever since I found out was on DeviantArt, I've had a craving to draw something related to Lilo and Stitch, the best animated Disney movie of the past ten years. (That's not just my opinion; it's pretty much fact, too.) And y'know, given the themes of the movie, an underwater scene seemed too good to pass up. But to match the lush watercolor-y look of the film, I knew I wanted to push my coloring skills further than they've ever gone before.
So, armed with about six issues' worth of Lilo and Stitch comics from the 2002 volume of Disney Adventures for reference, I agonized over this for over two hours overall - the longest I've spent on a drawing in a long time - and I'm quite pleased with the result! I know it's not as good as Mr. Sanders himself would have done it, but for a fan-made effort, I think it's pretty darn nice!
EDIT: Went back and added a bit more shading and fixed a few coloring goofs. I can still see some areas for improvement, though, so this probably won't be the last time that I'll tinker with this.

I think the coloring's lovely^^ I don't readily see any of the 'goofs' of which you speak, but since I've never used Photoshop I'll take your word that they exist. I also love that you remembered Stitch isn't big on water.

Nice. Lilo looks so cute in her swimsuit. Too bad Stitch can't swim.

Certainly won't complain at seeing Nani actually getting wet!
Great job on the setting sun, BTW - looks fantastic.

So cute! The joke about feeding Pudge the fish was one of my favorites in the film, so I enjoy a whole image centered around that. And Stitch's hesitation to enter the water as well is very funny.

I wish everything that came after the original movie hadn't been so bland. The TV series and video sequels focused on how cute and adorable Lilo and Stitch were. Well, true, they are cute, but they're also horrifying at the same time, and that was a big part of their appeal. I wish whoever was in charge of that show had realized that. I also greatly missed the unique Lilo-Nani sister-pseudoparent relationship, which was all but ignored.
I also wish Chris Sanders would put something on his account besides a nude. I'd like to actually fave his work someday.

I wish they would've left Lilo & Stitch as a stand-alone classic. Seems once this movie made a profit, Disney wasted no time milking it to death with sequels and spin-offs.
Made me glad that Lasseter put a stop to that practice before the same thing happened to Chicken Little.

I can see all the finer details in the colours, you really went to town with this pic!
I'd say it was worth the extra time.

Very colourfull. And the sandwich-eating fish is appeased. (Ohana means never having to dive alone.)
And if that striped fish got any closer to Nahni, it'd be up her nose.
