A while back, I thought about doing a series of underwater drawings depicting some of the best-known female anime characters - sort of an Underwater Babes of Toontown for Japan. I only drew four at the time, but then they got lost in the humongous shuffle of drawings I call my bedroom. This one finally resurfaced recently, and I thought I'd finish it up.The only time I've ever gone out of my way to watch "Sailor Moon" was when I riffed one of the movies MST3K-style with a buddy on AIM. All I remember is an asteroid covered in flowers and a bad guy who may or may not have been in love with Tuxedo Mask. My sister was really into the show for about two weeks in the early '00s, but I didn't care much about it then. And yet I still wanted to take a crack at drawing the characters. All that super-long hair, you knew I'd put 'em underwater somehow.

Oh yes - methinks you were beside yourself with delight when it came to their hair. Very good stuff
But isn't it odd, though, that nearly all Anime characters have to have immense hair styles - for both sexes, in some cases...

Sailor Moon was my first real exposure to anime. As terrible as DiC's dubbing and editing was, I enjoyed the first series better than the later ones.

Oh yeah, the flower thing. That's a movie, different from the script formula of the series. I like the look of this. Ami's my favorite, and probably a reason why I had any long-lasting interest in watching the series.
