Who used it and what was it used for?

it was originaly one of king`s castle and had nickname as Guardian of Bohemia Kingdom (precisely its western border). It served as stronghold (with its well defended small city) in strategic place. River Ohre makes almost island here and its suroundings is very hilly. Origin of castle is very old - romanesque. Our greatest Czech king (and Emperor of Holy Roman Empire) Charles IV. Luxembourg was here imprisoned by father as child.
