Description
By no means am I attempting to go against the Bible. This is merely a sign of Terence's spirituality, and mine. I was inspired by the scene with the burning bush in The Prince of Egypt. That scene never fails to give me goosebumps, and the music is spectacular. I actually listened to that piece while I was working on this; it helped set the right mood. The bush didn't turn out quite the way I'd have liked it, but the fire brushes make up for it. As for Terence going barefoot in this, well, the Lord did tell Moses to take his shoes off, "for the place on which you stand is holy ground".No critiques, if you please. And no flames, either. (No pun intended.)

•Exodus 3:2-15
And the angel of YHWH appeared unto him in a flame of fire
out of the midst of a bush:
and he looked, and, behold,
the bush burned with fire,
and the bush was not consumed.
And Moses said,
I will now turn aside,
and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
And when YHWH saw that he turned aside to see,
Elohim called unto him out of the midst of the bush,
and said, Moses, Moses.
And he said, Here am I.
And he said,
Draw not nigh hither:
put off thy shoes from off thy feet,
for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
Moreover he said,
I am the Elohim of thy father,
the Elohim of Abraham,
the Elohim of Isaac,
and the Elohim of Jacob.
And Moses hid his face;
for he was afraid to look upon Elohim.
And YHWH said,
I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt,
and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters;
for I know their sorrows;
And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians,
and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large,
unto a land flowing with milk and honey;
unto the place of the Canaanites,
and the Hittites,
and the Amorites and the Perizzites,
and the Hivites,
and the Jebusites.
Now therefore, behold,
the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me:
and I have also seen the oppression
wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
Come now therefore,
and I will send thee unto Pharaoh,
that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
And Moses said unto Elohim,
Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh,
and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
And he said, Certainly I will be with thee;
and this shall be a token unto thee,
that I have sent thee:
When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt,
ye shall serve Elohim upon this mountain.
And Moses said unto Elohim,
Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel,
and shall say unto them,
The Elohim of your fathers hath sent me unto you;
and they shall say to me,
What is his name?
what shall I say unto them?
And Elohim said unto Moses,
I AM THAT I AM: and he said,
Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
I AM hath sent me unto you.
And Elohim said moreover unto Moses,
Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
YHWH Elohim of your fathers,
the Elohim of Abraham,
the Elohim of Isaac,
and the Elohim of Jacob,
hath sent me unto you:
this is my name for ever,
and this is my memorial unto all generations.

This kind of interesting, because the Nostalgia Critic did a video about Prince of Egypt this week, in which he compared it to the Charlton Heston Ten Commandments movie. It's probably one of the most serious videos Doug Walker made as the character, and he also called it one of the top eleven underrated nostalgic classics.
Check the video out. [link]

I wish he'd tone down his language a bit (especially since he's talking about Biblical movies), but that's very interesting.

Well, he's a web comedian, so he's entitled to speak however he wants, but if that was the only barrier you had to really enjoying the video, that's a good sign. Of course, that could be an obstacle to enjoying most of the site, since a lot of the videos by most of the talents there are practicing the freedom of speech only possible on the internet. I'm pretty sure the only reviewer on the site who actively avoids using coarse language is Linkara, the comic book reviewer.

Yeah, but I just don't like swearing, period. There's no need for words like that, is there?

Well, different people have different tolerance levels for these sorts of things. There are times, in media at least, when swears are acceptable: if it's for historical accuracy, like with Band of Brothers; sometimes the level of language can determine whether a character is good or bad; I don't mind if cursing comes up when extreme rage about something is being expressed. I do think there are some things that don't need adult language, but that's usually only reserved for people just being profane for profanity's sake. To paraphrase Supreme Court Justice Robert Holmes, I can't define unnecessary profanity, but I know it when I see or hear it.

In the movie, it was, but then it switched to orange and gold. They didn't say what color the fire was in the Bible; they just said it was a fire that didn't consume the bush.
