Description
Done in the same metallic (mostly) clean style as the Autobot Depthcharge featured at TFW (and many others I've done), this is Cybertron Broadside!Customer wanted the clean metallic look to match the other 6 Wreckers I did for him. I tried to keep his colors as simple as they always were, to keep the look of the character intact, but I added lots of little details because good old broadside has a really simple and plain color scheme.
Broadside here has 4 modes, though 2 are variations of flight mode. Technically however, I guess he has 5 modes since he also becomes part of the 6 bot Wreckers combiner I am working on.
Robot mode has the big boosters on his back and wings on his arms, similar to the IDW version. The boosters also become his huge twin cannons.
Carrier mode is a sort of rescue/defend/tow mode, for hauling and repairing fellow Autobots who were damaged in battle. His carrier mode is fully capable of defending rescued bots from even a small armada of Decepticons.
(Hatchet pictured on the carrier for example)
Atmospheric flight mode is Broadside's way of traveling quickly for those urgent rescue and backup calls.
Space ship mode can travel thousands of light years in seconds, and can also post up over a planet as an orbital assault array.

Visually, he looks great. I'm not quite sold on the multiple modes, though. There isn't enough difference between any of them. They all basically look the same. All that seems to be occurring from mode to mode is rotating the legs or hips. I would really like to see the 'windshield' in the chest of the robot mode incorporated into the flight mode in some way. I think that would help to distinguish the various modes from one another.

Actually the transformation between carrier, jet, and robot are all vastly different, but the alt modes don't look so much different from each other because of the simple color scheme and big simple chunk of a base figure.
Jet and space mode ARE the same except the legs are rotated for space flight. Its just a little bonus mode.
Keep in mind that Hasbro didn't do much better with the alt mode they gave the base figure.

Oh, don't use that 'well G1 wasn't much better' cop out, U9! You can do better than Hasbro!
So the transformations may be vastly different, but unfortunately they all still look very similar.

No no, haha, that's what I'm saying. I mean I think I did beat what Hasbro did for the metroplex base figure's alt modes. That thing was dumb. I didn't mean G1. Almost everything beats the G1 figure.
The metroplex figure is great for what I need it to do- be the base of a combiner, but not a lot to work with as far as alt modes. I did my best with what it is.
Notice the light blue orbs on his arms too? The chest part isn't a cockpit since cybertron forms dont need cockpits. Just a detail to complete his Broadside robot mode look.

Aaaaaah, I got ya. A lot of characters had cockpits and driver cabs in the War Within mini-series.

True, and a sort of cockpit or window look in WFC too. Just sayin, I get more freedom to get away with things by making him a cybertronian form.
Thanks for your honest feedback on him Alti!
