The Lady of the Stars felt power course through her body, and her mind felt clearer every day. Her Star Children had grown stronger as they faced the enemy, fought, trained, and gained new abilities (or recovered those their predecessors possessed but had been lost). The bonds they forged together strengthened the Lady. Perhaps, she thought, it was time for them to fight back more aggressively, before Cepheus and his Rifter army could strike again. His power had obviously grown far beyond what she could have guessed before the New Year. They needed a direction, they needed information.
She called Cloak and Dagger to her, and through analysis of her own increased power an

Catori hadn’t originally intended to investigate the palaces so soon, to be truthful the thought of investigating a princess’ castle made her feel a bit odd and even a bit like a trespasser. For The Lady’s sake she was willing to shove those feelings aside, especially after hearing about the possibility of rifters hanging around the abandoned lands made her bump it up on her priority list. After examining each planet and the court that held it before, Catori chose the Mariner Castle of Mercury to explore. The senshi of wisdom sounded like she could have some useful information in regards to their powers history and possibly behind Cepheus’ abilities.
Landing in the large blue castle in senshi form, only the sounds of water trickling could be heard in the far distance. The floors covered in decorative tiles, some flooring marked by the sign of Mercury, Lynx treaded lightly through the halls in search of a library or some sort of information center. One hallway led to another, the only discovery she had made at first was the source of the decorative fountains. The white haired fighter heard the rifters thoughts before she physically saw her. The accent was soft with a hint of a hiss at the end, chanting over and over again:

“Patrol. Inspect. Patrol. Inspect. Patrol. Inspect. Patrol. Inspect. Patrol. Inspect. Patrol. Inspect.”

The two words continued to float repeatedly to Catori in her mind, though no other physical sounds were heard. Looking around she had possibly three ways the rifter could appear, from the hallway she just came, the lower level behind her or one of the doors further down. It was fight or flight time, but without any information or artifact to bring back, Lynx readied herself for a fight. She pressed herself against the hallway wall and continued in her path, the only warning she received from the rifter was when its thoughts changed; going from a repeated banter to a screaming alert of: “Apprehend, do not kill. Apprehend, do not kill. Apprehend, do not kill. APPREHEND, DO NOT KILL!” The shadow next to her grew larger as the creature attacked, giving Lynx just enough time to turn around and hold her armored cannon glove out to block herself from the silent assassins fangs latching onto her.
Lynx let out a gasp as the white haired rifter pushed her against the wall, her jaw opened like a snake as she snapped down again, wildly shaking her arm threatening to dislocate it. Even when she used her new clawed glove to tear into the rifter’s mouth to pry it loose, the rifter kept shaking, unwilling to let go. Only when Lynx gave the creature a hard kick to the midriff while activating the boots boosters managed to tear her opponent off; sending her flying off the side of the balcony and onto the lower level. Following suite, the constellation senshi jumped off the balcony, landing in what appeared to be a spa area complete with a soaking tub. Before she could properly stand, the fanged villain appeared out of almost thin air, her composure showing relaxed, as if she thought this battle would be easy. Switching trajectory to a low leg sweep, the rifter jumped out of the way giving Lynx enough time to stand up and charge.
Jaw unhinging, her opponent retaliated the charge launching at the constellation with her fangs extending for attack. Lynx went for a left hook only to miss the woman with superhuman speed; her jaw latching unto her tan shoulder, making Catori scream in pain. Losing her balance both women fell back into the deep spa, tinting the water with red as they both sank to the bottom. The villain was relentless, quickly opening and snapping her jaw making a trail towards Catori’s neck. In a panic, the dreadlocked fighter pressed her air cannon towards her opponent and let it blast her away. Water sprayed in every direction, allowing Lynx to breathe again though it came at the cost of torn muscle near her collarbone. Wasting no time, the constellation senshi sprang up and launched a second attack to the silent assassin, faking a right hook (Slowed by the torn up shoulder) before landing a hard punch with her left fist. Her opponent stumbled back, the feline fighter continued her attack by grappling her arms around the ninjas shoulders and giving the side of her kneecap a hard kick, breaking it instantly. The rifter let out a screech, its voice still chanting in Catori’s mind, “Do not kill. Do not kill. Do not kill. Do not kill.” It seemed she had given up on the thought of capturing Catori, but now concentrated on her other command. Still grappling her shoulders, Lynx slammed her left elbow down on the rifter’s collar bone. In a last ditch effort, the fanged creature twisted and bit down on the constellation warriors inner elbow, attempting to tear more flesh away. Her teeth barely had enough time to dig into muscle before a clawed glove forced itself under her upper jaw line, slamming her onto the ground hard. Lynx attempted to go in for another kick to the collapsed rifter before she touched her red insignia, disappearing from sight.
Now alone, the constellation checked for damage. Her shoulder wouldn’t stop bleeding, bruises were already forming all over her body and her inner elbow was also bleeding, though not nearly as bad as her shoulder. Pressing her left hand unto the shoulder wound she gave one more look around and paused, to the far side of the room the door was open with a large arrangement of books visible. She had come too far to stop now. Pacing to the large library she gave the room a quick lookover and let her instinct take over. On the opposite side of the room, stone tablets were on display in a language Catori couldn’t begin to understand. They appeared to be the oldest thing in the room and for all she knew it could be a recipe to the world's best egg salad, but it could also be a key to their past. Gingerly removing the glass coverage before picking up the fairly heavy stone with both arms, it was a light beige in appearance, but smooth like marble with the exception of a few cracks; it was time to go back to the Cloaked World.
“Get to the healing pods so Lady Mama doesn’t over-worry, hand over the tablets to her and the AI’s for examination and then call Lan and see if he is up for some well earned post-battle snuggles” Catori spoke to the stones as if they understood, “I have a feeling I’m not gonna be able to sleep tonight anyway.” Giving them a light pat before activating her brooch back to home base.

Artist notes: This was originally just a random doodle of Lynx (I saw the pose and liked it), then got inspired to make it into the artifacts task. I added Chompy in there because the poor babe needs to show off what she can do. I haven't written anything for Catori in awhile and I am pretty sure it shows here. I was pretty happy with this image until I did the background and now I just have trouble looking at it (Almost just tossed the whole thing but I figured I already put the hours into it)
