Nereus
From the midst of Ice empire camp, two pointed ears watched the entrance of the nursery.

Stone arcs accented each of the mounds, each den, with roots reaching deep into the earth. Tiny tufts of green would peeked out of their corners, behind rocks and pebbles. Tiny eyes peered back. Why did the grass grow in here? Why didn't it grow elsewhere? His little claws torn away at the shoots. It was so rude to just grow here when there wasn't supposed to be any!
He wasn't sure he liked grass much.

Nereus glanced around at the rest of the nursery. It was always the same, but everyone said the world outside the camp was different? That didn't make sense to him. Why would it be different? Lying down by the entrance he gave a huff in frustration.

Percy
The large white lion was passing by, stretching out his muscles after a much needed break, when he glanced over and saw the disappointed young brother of his poking his nose out of the den.
"Hey little bro, what's wrong?" Percy padded over to sit beside him. Though Nereus was younger than his own cubs, Percy liked to make his siblings feel they weren't so different they couldn't do sibling stuff. "You look like you're thinking hard."

Nereus
Misty eyes stared back at the large feline. "Is it big out there?" He asked, before catching himself and clarifying, "You know, big and stuff outside the camp?"
Nereus wouldn't easily admit it but the thought was terrifying. What would you do if something you didn't know appeared? How could you prepare for that? Perseus was grown-up though. He was braver than Nereus and knew a lot more as well. He even smelt different, so he had to be doing different stuff to them. His older brother would know what the world was like out there.

Percy
Percy nodded, giving his brother a smile. "It is pretty big out there, but there are things even smaller than you that live outside the camp. Don't you think you would get bored if all you ever saw was the walls of Mom and Dad's Den?" His tail flicked behind him as a bird flew by overhead.

Nereus
Some form of abstract horror washed across his features before the small cub tried to push the feeling down.
Would he get bored here? He glanced around and suddenly felt a tear between his curiosity and fear. "Well..." he started, "You can just tell me about it? Then I don't have to." Yes, that was his decision. However, he didn't feel as optimistic as he paws the remains of grass beside him. This was the safest choice, right?

Percy
Percy noticed his brothers mood after a moment and was suddenly alarmed. "Hey, hey buddy it's all right." Percy put a paw around his brother after a moment to think about it and brought Nereus close to his mane. "What's wrong? Don't you want to see outside the camp?"

Nereus
The small tom pressed his head into his brother's fur, and just sat there for a moment trying to sort through his young mind. He glanced up. "But what if something scary happens? Like a fox, or a bear.. or a hunter. Lots of hunters! I don't think I could ever be ready to take them all like you."

Percy
Ah, okay. Percy had been confused for a moment. Usually the Empire was trying to keep young cubs IN. Not help them want to leave at all. Percy made a face as he tried to rework this one in his head. How to approach this.
"Well Nereus you don't have to worry about that yet. Mom and dad would be right with you whenever you decide to go, and you'll be bigger than any fox when you get a mentor and start learning how to protect yourself. We wouldn't let you go out there alone. I promise. Ice Empire, and OUR family looks out for each other."

Nereus
He would be bigger than a fox? That was a new thought. Nereus tried to imagine himself with giant paws stepping on one, but it didn't quite click in his head. Would he bigger than every other thing? Would he be bigger than every problem? I guess that would help if you came across something you didn't know about - he mused, still finding it a little hard to believe, but exciting nonetheless. "Will I be bigger than a bear? A hunter?" He chirped, watching carefully Percy's expressions as they changed.

Percy
Percy chuckled. "I'm not even bigger than a bear, but you'll be bigger than most hunters," he winked. "But you don't have to be bigger than a bear, you just have to be smarter than one. And you never have to fight one alone."

Nereus
Wow, he'd be bigger than a hunter! His eyes widened with awe at the thought. A flash of tones of tiny evil cats running around brought a smile to his face, which turned thoughtful at Percy's next statement. "I want to be able to fight bears with my mind." He decided firmly. Yes, he'd be the best bear fighter out there.

Percy
Percy laughed out loud. "When you learn how to do that, you can teach me. I can see it now, Nereus the bear slayer. But seriously little bro, you don't have to be scared, just smart. Don't try and fight things bigger than you till you have had some training okay?"

Nereus
The tom nodded eagerly, "Ok!" before trying his best hunter's crouch. "I'm going to be the smartest cat here! Bear's must be really silly if you can beat them with smarts."

Percy
Percy laughed again. "Oh dear, I have created a little warrior hunter....”
