This happened back after the Shadow Empire flood of August 2017

After Vita's mother has passed away and Kaze failed to rescue his fellow felines from the flood; the two find comfort in a passing encounter at the border.

Vita
The golden Tiger hybrid had been pacing outside the camp since she heard news of the Flood In Shadow empire. Her mind was focused on one cat. Kazuro. She had befriended the Cougar months back, she was waiting for the time of Golden Tide but she was growing impatient with worry for her friend. Was he okay? Did he get hurt? Will shadow empire be okay? Many thoughts roamed her mind. Some of which were troubling to think of. Why did she worry so much about him and his empire? Was it unloyal of her to befriend an Enemy cat? She shook her head and looked around. No he was a friend and no matter what empire he came from he was no enemy to her. She looked around a little more making sure no feline was aware of her and what she was about to do. She turned tail when no one was to be seen or heard and trotted away in the direction of Shadows border.

Kaze
Across the border, the ground was still laden with residue water from the downpour. A large oak protruded out towards the territories edge, as if reaching out to the drier lands beyond. Hopefully the storm was lighter over there…
A dark cougar perched in its branches shifted uncomfortable in his dampness. The trees were the driest way to travel around, however the patrol Kazuro was on had insisted that they travel by ground to check the damages in the far reaches of the territory. Only now by this landmark had he been allowed to escape the mud below. They’re trying to kill two birds with one cat since so many are needed back at camp. The thought made the tom’s fur rise uncomfortably. The empire was a mess, and he long to break away from it for a moment. Everyone around Kaze however was in the same situation, perpetually disordered, so he found himself glancing across the border more before climbing down. Trailing behind, the patrol marched on. Hopefully things were better over there...

Vita
Vita trotted along , keeping low and hidden in the bushes as she made her way through the forest. the ground was damp and soaking from the rains. they got hit but not as bad as shadow had been. Vita disliked the feel of mud between her toes but at the same time she enjoyed a good mud tussle. She got closer to the border the scent of shadow was moister than usual from the rains. She peeked over the bushes sniffing intently trying to pick up any smells. She could see some of the damaged trees .

Kaze
The patrol again slowed to a halt, examining how unstable the roots of nearby trees were in the saturated swampland. It was bound to be even worse near the river and the lake, Kazuro mused. He’d better go check up over there in case things were bad enough to stop safe travel later… His eyes flickered back towards the border, noting the mangled trees just breaching into their territory too. I haven’t heard anything about the downpour affecting them, however their empire’s pride could have caused them to hide it.
Small movements further back in their neighbours territory caught his eye at he was mentally noting down potential tree falls. A lightning feline or other creature? The tom paused to get a better look at it.

Vita
Vita could see the fallen trees and broken tops bent and twisted. Not even a good scent of prey lingered. They all must have fled the destruction. She stiffened as a scent hit her. fresh and warm, a patrol was close. She ducked into a set of bushes praying that it hid her golden pelt and scent. She wasn't much paying attention to the trees above where Kaze was posted. "please don't see or scent me ..". she whispered. Though she wasn't sure why she was worried she was still on her own territory.

Kaze
The patrol again slowed to a halt, examining how unstable the roots of nearby trees were in the saturated swampland. It was bound to be even worse near the river and the lake, Kazuro mused. The tiger crept closer to the border, the bushes scrapping her fur and pulling on her skin as a small bramble bush caught her hind leg. She cussed under her breath as she pulled it free. so much for being quiet. The hybrid looked around as she sniffed the border line. The patrol seemed to move on the scent fading with the passing moments. She lashed her tail. Huh must have just been checking their land from the storm. Shadow seemed to get hit pretty hard after all.

Kaze
After finally splitting off from the patrol with a vague comment he worked his way back. They had given some time to quickly scout around whilst they checked over a tree which was hanging precariously over the normal patrol route; and whilst Kaze was grateful, he knew he wouldn't be allowed to travel out of scent or sight. Slipping behind a tree, he crept back along the border, the scent of lightning hanging in the air... with a wisp of something familiar too. Perhaps...? Whispering out, he peer out from the dense forest of shadow: "Vita?"

Vita
Vita stilled as the scent of shadow got particularly strong and the familiar smell of many flowers rolled over her. Kazuro. She went to peek her head out when he spoke her name which made her almost jump with happiness. She looked out of the bushel to come eye to eye with the little cougar male she came to enjoy being around. " how did you know it was me ?". she teased as she came out slowly from the bush to stand before him.

Kaze
"Ahh, but then I'd be spoiling the surprise," he said smiling, happy that she was ok. Since the flood, a nagging feeling had lingered in the back of his mind, one that at the time he hadn't been able to place. However, now the thought was beginning to subside, and strange emotion was welling up in his chest instead.
Taking another glance around, satisfied that no other felines had followed him back, he relaxed slightly. "I'm just glad your ok. It has been mad over here," he paused, chuckling as his eyes flickered over to his surrounds, "Take a guess why."

Vita
Vita smiled widely her own nagging thoughts now calm knowing he and his empire was okay. She smirked at his sly response but purred happily with a flick of her tail tip. She looked around as he did mentioning the destruction from the flood. "Im glad your okay too." She smiled warmly her heart fluttered a little when he said he was happy she was okay. It was an odd feeling one she hadn't felt before. "Mother nature seems to have taken her anger out on your empire. Lighting isn't as bad as this... I hope the land recovers soon. I worry prey will be scarce for you.. " She said softly in reply looking at him with worried eyes.

Kaze
Kazuro's expression reflectively softened as well, although his eyes betrayed some strain. "You wouldn't think water could cause so much strife...". It seemed like a lot of felines in the empire had suffered, and then after the flood things hadn't gotten any easier. Cats were still missing. Their leader had just... disappeared.
The cougar sat down and sighed.
"I don't think nature is done yet, everything is so damp that it rots so fast now... Flowers, Prey, Herbs... And cats are either missing or leaving," his eyes shut tight, "Hopefully whatever caused this will leave too."

Vita
The cheetah hybrid looked around. The storm really put a damper on everything, even the moods and attitudes of the cats living here. Softly she placed a warm paw on top of his and sat in front of him, her eyes and voice softened to a comforting tone. " Don't worry Kazuro.. all will be well soon. Hope will heal all in time. I know you and your empire are strong enough to go through this. And even if you're not... " she blushed a light pink " even if you're not... ill be here to help you.". She smiled as she looked at him. Her words rang true. She wouldn't let his empire or him starve or go without shelter, shed do anything in her power to help, even if she was a lightning cat. Deep down she knew this was unloyal of her but she knew helping others was the right thing to do.

Kaze
A warm smile mixed with a blush emerged as she place his paw on his; and in return he placed his muzzle on her forehead. The moment - the sentiment - was bittersweet, however he didn't want to get it go. After an intake, he spoke. "I don't deserve this. Thank you for being here."
He lifted his head back, and looked deep into her clear blue eyes. A slight wheeze of admiration slip out as he chuckled. "Wait, did you come all the way out here to..." He already knew the answer. There were no other fresh lightning scents nearby from what he could tell. Part of him wished he hadn't been on a patrol as well; they could have gone to check on the lake, gotten away from everything. But that would have been an even bigger act of disloyalty than him being with her now. His mind raced as he pressed his head against hers again.

Vita
The hybrid smiled warmly and her fur tingled from head to toe as the cougars muzzle touched her head in a warm thank you. Her tail twitched with happiness, but what she didn't get was why she was feeling so .. bubbly? inside. Was an all new feeling to her... It was happy and excited and something new altogether making her paws tingle. She shook the thought from her head as Kaz spoke. She giggled and for some reason her cheeks flushed a light pink. "I.. came because i wanted to make sure you.. uh your empire too where okay.." She felt kinda shy saying that it was just him she was looking for. She did to also want to run away from her life at home. Her mother's passing and her father was very distant now. It was a big change for her seeing as her family was always so close. As Kaz leaned back forward and his head pressed into hers a sudden thought overcame her odd feelings as she pressed back. This was disloyal... what if her father found out.. her leader... her empire... was she a traitor for making friends with an outside cat... But they were all just here to survive were they not... why did they have to have split empires... her father always asked this question , one they could not understand. She shook her head as she pulled back with a sigh but then smiled as Kaz looking into his deep eyes. "You are okay right?" she asked slowly, pushing those thoughts back once again. Right now she just wanted to be free of her worries and Being with Kazuro always did just that.

Kaze
A light chuckle escaped at her response, a trance of adoration appeared across his face. There was something always so genuine about Vita, something that had pried the initially reluctance to open all those cycles ago. Her manner of speech, her openness - all be it sometimes a little blunt, and her general atmosphere that conveyed a feline that you knew lived for a meaning. So seeing her concerned about, well, him, always would catch him off guard; no matter the occasion. It left him looking like the grown up dork that he was.
"Well, I guess I'm ok... could have desired a better time for the flood to happen. It is always when the worst occurs that your priorities end up showing clear. I had snuck out of camp, you likely can guess why," he said, gesturing to the flowers in his scarf, "when it began. By the time I made it back, well, I'll say that I got off lightly as those closest to me hadn't been lost to the waters." He took a sharp intake, and stole a meaningful glance at Vita, before pondering how to continue. In the end, he decided he'd give her a chance to speak as he picked out his next words carefully. "It is how you said though, time is a great healer... and a great tool for taking bigger steps. But, before I spoil the surprise, why don't you tell me about how your holding up? You still up for the Golden tides despite all this mess?" The cougar gave light smile, playfully shaking off his paw some dirt in mock disgust.

Vita
Vita couldn't help but be smiling, knowing her friend was okay made her super happy and relieved at the same time. She had been worried about him since the news and having seen the devastation it left behind, it made her worry more.

Kazuro's calm and understanding nature was what made Vita like him. She could tell a trustworthy and honorable cat when she saw one.

Her smile faded to a calm yet concerned expression as Kazuro spoke about how his family or friends were unharmed in the flood. Thank goodness. She maybe from lighting but she never would wish ill harm to any cat no matter the empire they come from . She prodded him with a paw to cheer him up a bit though. He seemed a little down? "Well next time you sneak off don't forget to come see me hehe". she smiled again as he mentioned the Golden Tides.

"Well I Do wanna go; I always Do,” she smiled flicking her tail, "But I'll only go if you're sure everything is alright and your well enough to go," She looked down some distant memory flooded her mind suddenly. "I actually came here, one to check on you and two well.. I've been kinda off lately... um... Like wanna clear my head for a bit.. and talking with you always seems to help. You're a good listener Kazuro,” she gave a small smile.
