Description
07/20 - Updated ref and tweaked her design a bit<3
___________________________________
Name: Wendigo
Age: Juvenile (11 months)
Gender: Female
Height: 32"
Weight: 84lbs
Appearance: Adorning a white/cream based coat with beige and an orange based tan accenting. There's very little yet noticeable feathering of dark brown across the shoulders, back and tail.
Elongated snout with pointed ears, mature facial features for her age. Bright and large expressive sunset colored eyes. Around her thin face, her cheek fur connects all the way up to the base of her ear. Neck fur is noticeably cowlicked, sporting a wiry fanned style. Long and lanky legs supported by evenly balanced yet small paws. Tuft of fur sitting at the start of her rear followed by a thick, short round tail.
Seemingly a healthy weight but her thick, short fur covers her underweight stature. Thin yet sturdy build but a few inches smaller than most her age. Her body, when grown, is built to tackle most (if not all) terrain.
Right ear, slight chunk of skin missing.
Lunarian by birth: Yes
Territory: Amoria
Rank: Omega
Family: N/A
Personality:
Calm - In most situations and just being, Wendigo is a calm wolf. Nothing seems to affect her according to her outward being unless severely provoked. Because of this, her expression only ranges from blank to discontent; it's wise to watch her eyes and brows for any indication of opinion.
Adaptable - Never having a stable home, physically or mentally, stability isn't a common or familiar asset in her short life. This trait is fed positively, being able to adapt and be comfortable in almost all situations.
Resolute - Though she may not be aware of what or why, she is extremely headstrong. Every task is done with above and beyond ambition. Nothing is done halfway and everything is done passionately. She's extremely resolute despite being so young.
Stoic - Not being shown compassion most of her short life, Wen knows little of truly showing any true emotion. This can be a positive but is mostly a neutral considering other wolves may need more emotionally from another. Wendigo also believes her turmoils are trivial and keeps to herself often.
Zealous - Being zealous will truly be the death of her one day. Once her mind is made up, she pursues it until it's done. This trait has earned her the most scars and its it's something she is actually proud of herself. Fear is weakness.
Detached - She is also slightly detached within herself but definitely more towards others. Forming true relationships with others is a complicated feat for her. It's easier to only care and worry about oneself than try to break down walls, becoming vulnerable to those you think you can trust.
Impulsive - Impulsive is the perfect word to describe her actions. In her mind, there's absolutely no room to think before speaking or doing. Perhaps she just doesn't grasp the concept after so long of a carefree lifestyle. Being this way has often done her good but has also landed her into situations that were uncalled for. Possibly a trait that can be broken with time.
Senseless - Wen lacks common sense in most cases which is always a downfall in this generation. Extremely impulsive and acting on impact may have its upsides but has mostly brought nothing but inconvenience and pain towards herself and others around her.
Bitter - Lacking empathy and holding grudges makes her very bitter, anyone is a victim to her nasty mouth and attitude. A thick wall built by lack of love, betrayal and dismiss has grown a black hole in Wendigo’s young heart.
Pugnacious - Most days she carries a resentful aura which wards off many. But the worst trait Wen carries on her shoulders is her aggressive nature. Though her tolerance for annoyance is high, when provoked Wen is ready to settle it with raging canines marking your skin. Be careful, she is quick on her feet and has undying stamina with the agility of a rabbit.
Likes:
- She enjoys song, howling soothes the soul.
- Fish is an absolute favorite meal.
Dislikes:
- Wolves who hover over her.
- Others who are intentionally mean.
Backstory:
During the storm, quake and the madness a white shewolf met a young wolf who aided her in survival. He was young, kind, full of life and absolutely infatuated with Jadis. Lark cared for Jadis, though 3 years apart in age, he fell in need of becoming her mate. He was too kind, too caring- blind to the deranged character she was.
The two and a half years after the great change, the two traveled throughout as lone wolves. A light spark happened between the two despite Jadis’ plans and had eventually resulted in her falling pregnant. She was displeased. Then 7 years of age, she carried the pups of her silly companion. Something she never wanted. Under his nose she attempted to rid of the undesirable beings in her belly by herb, unhealthy food and nasty habits. Lark was ecstatic when she fell into labor but was heartbroken as all three pups lay lifeless in their bed. Except one. Jadis was infuriated. One small white pup twitched, weazed, then began to whimper and cry. How was this possible?
Despite Lark’s attempts of naming their surviving pup of something along the lines of ‘Miracle’, Jadis insisted on Wendigo. An ugly name in her mind.
Wendigo fell behind the means of growth; small, malnourished and ill, she wasn't meant to be alive. Her mother did very little, the minimum she could to keep the nuisance breathing. Lark, blind by her actions, loved his beautiful pup and persisted in taking extra care of her. She prevailed in the first few months, eventually becoming lively. By the time she was barely a month old, she trailed behind her father and watched everything he did, Jadis insisted on her going out in attempts to create as much space as she could between them.
Lark began to witness the awful ways Jadis treated her daughter, taking pity on Wendigo. Abuse, neglect and less than care had stunted her greatly. He then stood up to Jadis, the argument ending in spiteful words and clashing teeth. Jadis spitfully cursed him, praying that he never see their spawn to live longer than a year. That night, she disappeared.
In his best attempts as a young father, Lark cared for Wendigo, teaching him everything he knew in fear of the curse being true. Though he didn't know how to help his daughter’s stutter, he believed she was bright and would one day become strong female who would turn out better than Jadis. During Wendigo’s tenth month of being alive, she was Lark’s shadow, knowledge in all he knew. He prevailed.
One dark evening, the family of two went on a hunt. Haven't eaten in days forced them to hunt for something large in attempts to keep little Wen healthy. Lark was overprotective, never allowing his precious blood to stray far. This night he failed. Wendigo wandered from her father, in attempts to do it alone. As she wandered through the thick, she was a aware of the danger that lie ahead, forever changing her life. Wen became a target, a large creature who stood as tall and the trees with a roar that echoed the mountains. A bear chased her, quickly pawing her small body into the ground. Despite her fits, the monster tore her ear. A spitting screech escaped her lips in which called for her father. The most she remembers is seeing him leap out of the brush, latching into the bear’s neck. They howled, scratched and bit, a fury of fur rained onto the forest floor. She hid herself in a fallen tree, silent tears slipped down her cheeks as her father fell to the ground. His skull slapped the ground, his bright eyes locking with her's. The sparkling faded ever so slowly as he smiled, he saved his little beloved Wen.
For days Wendigo laid by Lark’s side, searching for the warmth that faded long ago. She grew cold. She grew void of attachment. She grew hungry and thirsty. Not a glance was given towards the lifeless body as she left him, wandering the land for salvation. Wen then collapsed.
Wendigo awoke surrounded by others, many more wolves than she had ever seen in one place. She knew none and kept to herself but stayed. She knew nothing about anything and shut down, now living in the pack they called Amoria.
Other:
- Wendigo doesn't fear much except bear. She fears them with a burning passion.
- Her speech impediment displays in moderate stuttering. Normally she can avoid much tripping over her tongue but cannot control it when worked up.
- Because of her disability, Wen chooses to stay silent in attempt to avoid bullying and or repetitive, exhausting explaining.
- Due to the treatment she ever received, she believes feeling fatigued is normal. Seeing all the wolves around her seem incredibly fat to her. How can they eat so much?
