Have you ever tried doing a picture of Metal Overlord (from Sonic Heroes)? If you can do the metallic scales look as well as you do, you could make a decent looking picture of him. ^^

Wow, you did a great job with the shading on the scales and everything else. If you're not looking for a shiny metallic look, what exactly are you trying to achieve?

Well, I want my scales to be more mat, like skin.

Try smudging it a little more with the green highlight; it seems a little too contained and isolated rather than spread-out and smooth. Also, try playing with a few different colours mixed in with the green. When you analyze human skin on a white boy like me, for example, it's got more colour than just straight-up beige. It has a touch of light red, light yellow, maybe even a tiny tiny hint of light blue and green in some places. That's because skin has many capillaries close to the surface and it's textured as well.
I'd say if you played around with a little bit of red and orange-yellow, maybe creating a layer on top of the green and playing with opacity brushes and the like, you could get the effect you're looking for. Just keep it very very light. And don't just try out the colours I suggested; try everything! You're using a digital-art program, that's what ctrl-z is for!
Hope this helps!
