(Part 1 Here)I've decided to take all of my Mega Man X WIPs and put them into one deviation again. I don't remember what the font was I used in the last one :/ oh well.
I'll explain my thoughts and ideas for each one again. From left to right:
ELF WARS - These were sprites of X, Zero, and Axl meant to be be their appearances during the Elf Wars. I based their designs on that one panel from the Archie comics, and I based their poses off of Model X, X6!Zero/Model ZX, and Model A. I didn't even get to shading them, but it was a neat idea.
MASSIMO - Steel Massimo himself! I had never found a good sprite of Massimo before, so I decided to be the first. Unfortunately I lost motivation right around his beam axe, but it's like 90% complete.
SIGMA (PLAYABLE) - Years ago I worked on an MMX fangame called Mega Man X0, featuring Sigma as a playable character. I made him a lot shorter, based on his Maverick Hunter X look, so that he'd be easier to control and could fit through boss room shutters. The project never ended up going anywhere though, and now the MegaManX9.com forums are shut down, so there's no recovering anything from that old fangame as far as I know.
VILE (PLAYABLE) - This one was already shown in some other deviations of mine. TL;DR: made some playable Vile sprites based on his Maverick Hunter X appearance instead of mangling his boss sprites. I'm currently working on making this one into a full sheet. UPDATE: FULL SHEET HERE .
AXL (X8)/(DiVE)/(X7) - Tried making Axl sprites like every other MMX spriter on the planet. The first one is based on his X8 pose, with his gun up by his head. The DiVE one was more recent - I'm not happy with his face, but the pose is neat. And the X7 one is pretty old, based on that fake X9 screenshot that made the rounds years ago. Something I tried was making Axl's greys a little more bluish-green to help differentiate him from X and Zero. I thought it was a neat idea, idk if it turned out though.
X (MHX) - It's always bugged me a little how small X's sprite is in the SNES games, especially when compared to Zero. I thought I'd make him a bigger sprite based off of Maverick Hunter X. It looks okay, his head is kinda messy but the body looks great.
ALIA/LAYER/PALLETTE - I made sprites of the navigator gals! A rarity, for sure. I actually have an Alia sprite on dA already, but this one blows that old attempt out of the water. I really like how Layer turned out. Pallette could still use some work ngl.
BIT - We all know the sprites in X3 are a little "off" compared to X1 and X2. I was thinking of updating him to be more in-line with the other games, cause I've always liked Bit. Didn't get much further than a palette-swap and a new head lol.
LUMINE - One of my first sprite projects I posted here was a Lumine sprite. I've since honed my craft, and MAN does this look way better lol. It looks much more legit, and I'm proud of how far I've come.
RED - This one is really unfinished. I got pretty far into it before deciding it sucked, so I just left it. I've never seen anyone else attempt to make sprites for Red before, which is sad to me because X7 was a part of my childhood. I understand it's not a very good game, but I still love it out of nostalgia. :') UPDATE: New version here !
And that's all! Each character belongs to Capcom, as usual.
