Description
Finally, finally, introducing quetzal rexes! Quetxal rexes are a large dinosaur/dragon like species that are the embodiments of knowledge. Each one is born with a single book containing all knowledge on a particular subject, known as their knowledge link. This subject can be anything, from literal subjects such as math, to skills, animals, places, items and even non-tangible concepts and ideas. The possibilities are endless! The only things a quetzal rex can't have as a subject are people and copyrighted material.
Books:
A rex's book can have any appearance as long as it has a crystal sealing the book closed. It is only able to be opened by the owner of the book, unless the rex has given permission to whoever wielding it to read it. These books usually only exist within the consciousness of the rex it belongs to, but a rex can make it tangible if it so wishes, and other rexes can force each other to summon their books. The book can be any subject as well, and the gem sealing it can be any existing type of crystal. However, Rexs can gain power and knowledge by stealing the books of other rexes. Stealing books grants the rex an alternate form that resembles that of their subject, however, a rex cannot have more than one main subject at a time, and they will resemble whatever their main subject is. There is no limit to how many subjects a rex can have, and gaining a new subject will give the rex a new power associated with their new subject that they can use regardless if it's their current subject or not, but will be most powerful when using it with the subject it's linked to. The more subjects a rex has, the more powerful and knowledgeable it is, and it is said that if a rex collects all the books, it will become the reincarnation of the original two quetzal rex gods, a being of ultimate knowledge and power, blessed with both the powers of good and evil.
Book stealing is often an addicting action, and once a rex steals a few, it will often be inclined to steal more and more.
Powers:
Each rex is born with a single power relating to their subject, and is strongest when that subject is their main subject. When a rex gains a new book, they acquire a new power relating to that subject, that they will be able to use even if it isn't their main subject at the moment. Rexes that have had their book stolen will keep their subject (but only if it's their knowledge link, secondary subjects will disappear entirely), but will no longer be able to summon their book or use their power.
Appearance:
Quetzal rexes stand at about 14 feet tall, but many are much shorter or taller. They are known for their impressive and soft tufts of fur that can be found anywhere on the body, as well as their varied yet always long ears, and some even have horns.
Diet:
They are mostly carnivorous animals, but will eat plants, berries, and food scavenged from humans if necessary. Their prey are often large animals such as cows, buffalo, horses, and even other predators such as bears and big cats.
Relationship with Humans:
Quetzal rexes, though usually docile creatures, are often considered dangerous by humans due to their size and intelligence, and are not permitted to be owned in most cities. (This doesn't keep wild rexes from wandering in as they please, though) Those that are owned usually belong to wealthy individuals with the money and space to care for them, and even then, "owning" a rex is less like owning a pet, and more like having a large dragon as a roommate due to their intelligence. They can communicate with humans, but also use their own language to communicate with one another. It seems that the especially love to talk about the subjects of their books.
Reproduction:
Quetzal rexes reproduce like normal animals, and usually produce one to three offspring, (called pups) per litter, however, rexes have both sets of reproductive organs, so parents of any gender are able to reproduce with one another. Both parents traditionally take care of the offspring, and are very protective of their young. pups subjects are a combination of their parent's subjects.
ex. parent 1's subject is blankets + parent 2's subject is history, the pup's subject will be the history of blankets.

Habitat:
Quetzal rexes are found all over the world, and similarly to humans, live both alone and in groups, in tribes, and in their own cities, though it's said they originated in what is now modern day Mexico.

FAQ
May I make one?
Yes! If you do, just be sure to show me the design so that I can approve it! However, having more than one book is a rare trait, and is currently unavailable for the time being, so I ask that you don't make a rex with more than one book.
