My final for my 2D Design class...last in a series of 6 pieces based on an animal (I chose the nautilus, cause it's just so darn cute)Really the whole thing was a practice in working digitally without outlines, which I am so burdened down by. The whole project ended up being the jumping off point for my current method of drawing backgrounds for leveL, god help us
My concept is of a race descended from the Nautilus, building air/water ships to escape the sea into the promises of the sky. Yeah....GO NAUTILANS!

I love the style, it's very aesthetically pleasing and sort of reminiscent of steampunk. of course, it's not exactly steampunk, but the aesthetics are similar and that's always a pleasing angle to see these days.

Part of it reminds me of one of the 3D screens at Futuroscope (a multimedia/science park in France)- the magnitude of the scene 
Love the electric use of pink and detail on the railings.

Like I commented somewhere on your leveL website: THESE HAVE TO MAKE A,EVEN IF IT'S QUICK, CAMEO. lol
What I definitely enjoy most about this piece is the color...You have a lot of syntilating colors and though you used alot of toned down colors, the most chromatic colors really pull the viewer's eye throughout the entire piece. Size relationships are pretty good and wow you must have had your hands full trying to keep track of where all the shadows would fall on each object!
Well anyway I saw it in person and it was awesome to look at in full desired format and it now hangs in our beloved CCAD halls so you know the judges like it.^__^

LOL how much would they fit in....an offshoot of the Basin Dweller Society, but they rise above it all and make their way to the surface to prosper!! OMG, I am too much of a dork X)
The color was something I was really happy about with this piece...but I was sad that because I did it in CMYK (so it would print correctly) it isnt as vivid on a monitor.
I think really that the whole thing just shows how much I have to learn, but I'm glad your gonna be there at school to help me along to way

haha, but leveL does need some serious background therapy...think I might be onto something with this method though...hopefully everyone will stick with me as I try to make it happen XD

I think leveL did pretty fine, even on background aspect, I mean, the basin? And the town with all those little Xmas shinies? They are droolmakers! And honestly, you shouldn' t worry over people sticking with you, if they did for a long hiatus then I' m pretty sure they will be able to bear with some more pages of leveL goodness, and most certainly none of us will mind quality growing ever more.
Heh, I' m going to start a comic with Evil Emperor Nick hopefully soon too, I have 5 pages ready... but I guess I' ll stay for now with lazy backgrounds as we are both icking to finally get it really started.
And WUT? You watch me??? I' m ever so honored, just sadly overworked by school - you know the feeling... - , but you can expect a couple of new pics going up in summer.
