yes it does, plus england use to have the greatest longbowmen in the world, it was the law for any boy above the age of 14 to practice with a longbow atleast once a week... now, we arent even allowed to hunt with them...

You have military who may sell their weapons to pay for their Obamacare. I know I'll need to.
Besides, we are a gun heavy country. The South is the biggest example of that. Try to come in the South and tell us we can't have guns. We do several activities which involve guns, the biggest being hunting.

If you are in the military you are on Tricare, which is the military healthcare system. Tricare is free for single service members, and costs a nominal amount for plans to cover spouses and dependents.
You do not own your weapon, it is assigned to you. It is normally stored in your unit's arms room unless it needs to be used for an official reason (usually training, possibly a specific duty that requires you be armed). If you sell your weapon (which means you'd have to have been authorized to get it from your unit's armorer), it would not be worth it. You would be forced to pay the military back for the weapon, plus you'd be demoted (which would cut your pay), face theft and possibly other charges in civilian court (possible fines), face charges in military court (not considered double jeopardy, likely fines that are taken straight out of your pay), possible jail time, and most likely a dishonorable discharge.

No I prefer to practice at a shooting range so I can keep up my precision and to tune my guns.
I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. You never know when someone might want to invade your apartment because they think you'll be an easy score. I enjoy proving them wrong.

don't get me wrong: i'm pro hunting.
look around at laws in other countries and notice how some make a difference between a hunter who wants to purchase a rilfe and a random nutjob who wants to have an assault rifle.
and if your place gets raided in a manner where even a rifle does you no good, i doubt "heavier weapons" would. and even if so, i seriously doubt you will "enjoy" getting your apartment raided, assault rifle or not.
