Lets not forget two important facts here;
1. Inmates can build a gun while in PRISON.
2. I don't know about anyone else, but if I know that the majority of people around me are armed, No chance in hell am I going to think its a good idea to go in and rob/shoot up a place.
Some moronic hippies would argue sarcastically "If there were more guns in this country, we'd have less shootings.". I believe this is true.

AND in Canada, where I live, if someone comes in, kills someone, rapes you or another person, and steals your stuff, you cannot do anything but take it lying down and the cops do NOTHING to help.

I don't think banning guns completely would be a good idea; but I agree that people should have to go through a mental check before they are allowed to get a gun licence. I know people who should NOT have guns ever; but there are some people I know who are really good with them and have uses.

Sometimes it can make a difference; a lot of people don't have the drive to get something if they have to go through a lot of trouble to get it. Or at least that's here in Australia... People can be extremely lazy here, though XD

introducing laws stating that a licence is required to own a gun would help keep guns out of the hands of those who would abuse firearms, it also means that those who take part it firearm related sports and activities can still own guns if they aquire said licences. thats its done here in the UK and there is less gun related killing here.

We have licence laws in place; I still have a year to go before I can get my small gun permit. However I prefer, along with several others, to keep the guns we already have IN the house and not in some hunting clubhouse.

see were i'm going. being someone who enjoying hunting and firearm sports you'd think id be all 'gun'hoo', no, i'm a gun enthusiast but i understand that these laws are in place to help protect us from those who would abuse them.

one thing i dont like about britian is that hunting with bows or crossbows is illegal, owning them and practicing with is legal and the only requirements to buy one is that you are over 18... which is good x3
