I wanted to make a much more high-quality an impactful "protest post" against deviantART Eclipse, since this is a problem that requires as much noise we can make about it. Eclipse isn't just "change," it's non-functional, and the admins are no longer listening to our bug reports and critiques, intended to push it forward with half the features not even working and the entire site crashing on a daily basis for anyone who even TRIES to use the "new format."Here are some ways you can help take a stand. I'd like to organize a proactive even to show DA the possible results of a permanent Eclipse change-over. Instead of deactivating your accounts for good, or indefinitely boycotting the site, I'd like to make a Statement of Silence for those Users against Eclipse. Starting May 1st, I will not be active on Deviantart. I will not submit new deviations, journals or even visit the site for 3 Days time. From May 1st to May 3rd. I ask all all other Users who wish to keep old Deviantart to join me in this statement of silence.
Perhaps the abrupt halt and slow down of site traffic will show DA team members the devastating effects this could have on their audiences they cater to. They have failed to listen when we speak out... perhaps they will listen to The Sound Of Silence.

Since you're new here, it means deviantART didn't give you the option to see the classic layout. Eclipse is the layout you're being forced to use. But basically, the classic layout runs a LOOOT smoother and has a lot more easy-to-use features.

I can't afford to leave. The art commissions I get from this account are basically my income. I have a Weasyl and FurAffinity, but both those accounts are barely active and get less than 1% the traffic this page does.
For perspective, here I currently have 1461 watchers. On FurAffinity...66. 46 on Weasyl.

I didn't think the permanent switch-over would happen so soon. I thought it would be at least another year. This whole situation really sucks.
I really hope the protest from the userbase works, and I intend to take part in that sound of silence movement, but in the meantime, I'm putting my final departure plans into motion.

I'm one of those people who cannot afford to leave, since as I've said before, ALL of my income currently comes from art commissions I get through this site. I have a Weasyl and FurAffinity...but between both of them I have less than 1% the activity I have here. There's no way I could rebuild anywhere else in any conceivable amount of time. Loosing deviantART would be the equivalent of having my house burn down, no exaggeration.

I think the issue for them is money. They likely spent so much trying to get this thing to work it put the company seriously in the red, meaning if they DON'T find a way to make back on their investments, they could go bankrupt. So they're stuck between two no-win-scenarios.

Why not just make Eclipse an alternate option then? That way those who are used to DA the way it is can keep it that way or switch eclipse mode on if they wanna try something new.
