Description
Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.Just finished this today, it's the first one of these I've actually done since joining DA (and, I actually started it months ago.... I just put it on hiatus for awhile. So only about half was completed recently).
Anyway: pen (Pilot Hi-Tecpoint V5) and paper. Border added digitally. Ruler used for straight lines, everything else is freehand; no pre-sketching.
A little note on how these are made: I usually just pick a starting point (notice the little black squares in this, Cliche, and Extrusion?) and move out from there. I have an idea of some sort of "movement" or "flow" I want to capture, but never a specific shape or plan. I grow a general idea in my head as I draw of this "movement", but never confine myself to something specific.
Another note on these things (whew): If you look closely (which may be impossible because of how scaled down it is), you will notice that the entire image is comprised of distinct shapes seperated by a sliver of white. Fun, but tedious

Actually, I've done blowups to double-size of some of my ink stuff, and made larger works out of them: Discrete (larger version here ) and Extrusion (larger version here ).
I have plans for Unexpected Turn in my head, but time is limited... But, I did get a printing account the other day, and this is gonna be my first available print
Anyway, thanks for the fave!

Cool! Well, a print for Unexpected Turn should be available soon, and as I have the time I'll be putting up prints for most of my ink stuff anyway.

Outstanding piece of work.... saw it on Abstract deviants and couldn't take my eyes off it. Wonderful manipulation of abstract triangular forms- love the overall configuration and the powerful 3D presence generated throughout. Some of the detail reminds me of Kandinski's drawings.
The image has worderful inspirational potential... I can see it as a achetectual structure.
Love to see what you would do with curves added to your arsenal.
Great stuff!

I love your work -- you have a talent for constructing intersting shapes with a sense of mass and solidity.
Anyway, sorry for the late reply, I've been bogged down in work laterly

That's such a good abstract work. Sorry I can't make a better and constructive critique, but you know, sometimes we just have to feel the art instead of trying to understand it.

I understand what you mean If there wasn't room for feeling in art, where would there be room for it? (If that isn't the most cliche thing I've ever said.....)
Anyway, thanks for the fav, too.

This is so cool. 8) You can tell all the effort and details that you put into it. What kind of paper did you use? *bowing As always, I'm not worthy of such eye candy. Your work reminds me a little of . Have a fantastic Fourth of July weekend okay? This is a new favorite for me.

Thanks!
It's funny, I never had any intention of giving the impression of a figure, but by the end I was thinking it gives the impression of a twisted figure or something like that.
On the patience.... I have to say, finishing this was a relief. It's probably the first one I've ever felt really impatient with; I think it's a sign for me to move on somewhat. I might abandon the ruler, and use a few different pens. I'm also planning some paintings...
