Yep...yet another pic of a water snake. Again, I believe this to be a cotton mouth. It's actually floating there in the water...reaching from the bottom of the creek to the top of the water. You've got to full view to really see the snake!

...I wouldn't like that one little bit. Just thinking, this reminds me- Sarishiri took a couple photos of a cotton mouth in this nest in the water on the river here. The one we saw was huge. It was very well camouflaged. She laid down on the boardwalk and stretched way out over the edge (with the front half of her body almost off of the boardwalk. I had to hold onto her at one point so, that she wouldn't fall in. Obviously her friend, ie, Marina didn't have her brain engaged and Sarishiri definitely had an angel on her shoulder. This one was coiled up in a ball and had at least a foot of his body lying out in front of him facing her. I had never seen one that big in the wild. Marina was totally clueless that day, because that thing could have struck at any moment. Quite the durrrr moment and it didn't really hit me until I repeated the story to a friend later on that day! LOL Yay, for angels! Thanks again for indulging my banter.

Yeah, it's kind've scary sometimes! During our canoe trip we saw some rather large snake on the river swimming along the surface with a 2" or so fish in it's mouth. He was pretty close to us, but swimming towards shore. We've seen some pretty massive snakes here before. There's actually a photo we took of my dad with a snake he killed. He was holding it by the tail reaching as far up over his head as he could and it was so long it was still coiled up on the ground a little! I think it was just a black king snake though, so it was a good'un.
Wow...the boardwalk was that close to the water? What a miracle that she didn't get bit! Yay for angels and for God always keeping his eyes on us!

ewww on the snakes. They aren't a favorite of mine. Scary. Yes, yay for angels, cause her mommy wasn't thinkin, obviously! The boardwalk is in the water, most of the year, unless we are having a drought.

the boardwalk is in the water many times during the year. I'm certain it was built along the rivers edge in the dry season and then ends up in the water or at least mostly surrounded by water on both sides, for most of the year. You will have to see for yourself one day in the not to distant future.
