i think you should read this. really.

hmm.. okay..other painting i did.. um, it's called today.we.escape. and it's about, the things we do, the way that we lie to ourselves.. to try to convince ourselves that we're someone special.. like, the metaphor i used is about someone who has sex with just about anyone, to try to convince herself that she's beautiful, that she's desired.. but even that doesn't work.. she knows she isn't loved..

okay.. person on the bottom of the canvas..so this is like.. hmm.. her looking like a mermaid.. so this is when she feels free.. and like, the blue background is actually unbuttoned jeans.. and like, the top doubles as wings.. (as pointed out by maddy ) so it has a double meaning..

the bit on the right.. and the green thing is the guy's back.. but it could also double as a perfume bottle.. since like, scent is a big thing.. you know.. like, pheromones in smells or something like that.. i dunno.. i think they said something like that in health once lol

the face that's on the left.. it's kinda like.. the fallacy of it all.. i mean like, no one looks like that.. it's almost like clown makeup.. costume makeup.. she's trying to hide herself.. as well as trying too hard to be like someone else, that it just doesn't look right.. but the fact that it's makeup, means that it's just temporary.. it's going to have to come off at one point.. like, her disguise isn't permanent..

um, acrylic on canvas.. i dunno the measurements.. i used stock images on here as reference pix, but i can't remember.. ill check which ones they are when i get home...

hmm.. so yeah.. actually came up with this bc of a creative oral we had to do for english.. on maya angelou.. so i took her life, and like, related this to her.. since there's all this stuff that happened to her.. getting raped as a child, numerous failed marriages, living in a segrated area.. and all of that stuff, yet you read her poems like phenomenal woman, and they seem to give off so much confidence.. so i wondered if she truly felt that way, or if she just did it, to try to convince herself that things were okay...

hmm, i dunno, her poems don't directly deal with the issue of "love" exactly.. so i guess that's where i play into all of this.. because, i guess i lie to myself a lot, just to get by... but it catches up w me eventually.. bc sooner or later, i have to realize that no matter what i do.. it doesn't matter... it doesn't change things
