An air popping popcorn robot, Kernel Man is a Robot Master with a highly specific use and an oddball means of fighting after being repurposed for battle.
Kernel Man is much like his fellow unit Bumper Man, designed for a failed amusement park and left more or less abandoned ever since. Kernel Man doesn't feel anger or resentment so much as ennui. He was surrounded by plenty of regular popcorn machines, and there was really no distinct need for him. He was an expensive purchase, a status symbol, and after the park's closure he feels a great sense of cosmic meaninglessness.

Why is he here? Why does he pop the corn? What sort of cruel God puts a robot on the earth with no answers awaiting them?

Anyway, his weapon is the Popping Kernel. It sends out a small projectile that pops into a larger object that can be used as a foothold. These can be stacked or used to hold down switches. If Kernel Man was aware that regular popcorn doesn't do this, he might be a little less melancholy. But Kernel Man, alas, is not very smart.
