Crosswires was originally an incredibly sturdy, durable android with a sophisticated AI designed for bomb disposal. One fateful day it was damaged while attempting to defuse a bomb... the android was placed into storage where it began running a self-diagnostic and repair algorithm that, due to the damage, started to loop in on itself. Soon enough a consciousness emerged, and the now-sentient Crosswires escaped from the lab!

Yeah, Crosswires is a little... odd. Its attempts at replicating humor result in it parroting back jokes it has heard or engaging in random non sequiturs. It is fiercely protective of its own continued existence. But it also wants to help people — perhaps a bit of leftover directive from its bomb disposal days, perhaps a genuine conclusion reached after realizing how precious its own life was. Either way, Crosswires has become a stalwart, if not a really weird, ally in the fight for justice.
