If you like the anime, you should read the books. Like any adaptation, the anime changed several things from the books. For instance, the anime almost completely changed the climax (to give it a more anime feel). Also, Neridah actually dies in book 7.

I have to honest, while I was as happy as anybody to see her go in the books, her miraculous survival in the anime is one of the few changes that wasn't done horribly. Almost every other change seemed forced and unnecessary, but Neridah's anime exit was a diamond, pardon the pun.
