Hah, I'm so slow with uploading. This was drawn back in June! xDDAnyway, Reboot and Template, both of them are swaps! They fight... evil and... stuff!

Yeah, they have quite a few things in common, but they have a whole different 'base'. While I feel like Reboot was more of a design challenge, Template is more of a... concept idea? I'm not sure how else to say it.
Reboot started off with a design I think? Not sure about this one obviously but I'm quite sure it was a "let's design a swap version of Error" as the core idea, while for Template I went like "if Error would do what Ink does, what would he be like?" and the two approaches ended in two different versions. ovo

Template (the right one) is my swap concept of Error, while Reboot belongs to the amazing thegreatrouge and who's also a swapped Error. So drawing them together made sense. After all, they are so different in concept, it's so cool x3

Well then don't. Try to make your own versions.^^
I mean Reboot and Eraser existed like... a year before I made Template and Pale. And I managed to give them an entirely different setting, personality and unique designs. Β If you have a good idea, definitely go for it, but don't copy anyone C:

Yah, I don't want to copy anyone but I'm just scared that anything I come up with would look to similar to what Template and Eraser and Reboot and pale looks like...I don't know how original mine would look...

Only one way to find out: Give it a try! And then compare. If they look similar, try to find a different way to design them.
Also, maybe the way I did the concept helps? I had the concept about how I wanted to swap them even before I had an inch of an idea for a design. Because their personalities and a lot of the concept had been developed, their designs are literally what they are. Everything on Template's design has a reason to be there. Pale's design has a reason, too. Don't worry about the looks on a character. Everyone does that, but shouldn't a character be exactly that: a character? Not just a pretty standstill without personality? So maybe that helps you define their persoanlities, and after that, maybe you'll get more ideas for the design c:
