Oh yes, I've definitely read the books and I love them. You're right, had Toothless been in original version in the movie things would have been quite different. I think the same could be said for a lot of elements if the movie followed more closely to the book-characters. Interesting but different

Well, if you have read the books, Toothless is actually a common garden not that special dragon, as small as a cat, really very much toothless and considerably lazy ; v ;
So toothless being a Night Fury really is an amazing upgrade * v *
However, Hiccup's adventures are still epic~
